She stared at him, thinking to herself how good he was with kids. He looked up at her and smiled. She watched him say something to the kids and walk over to her.
"Hey." He said smiling at her.
"Hey" She replied watching the kids play across the room.
"What are you thinking about?" He questioned watching her,
"How good you are with kids." She said unconciously
"And?" He asked.
"How nice it is to see this side of you. Usually it's all Work and no Play."
"Well, I usually don't help you out with these charity events and parties." He conceded,
"So what do you wanna do? Eat, take a tour, dance?" She offered turning towards him.
"How about a dance and then you can introduce me to all the kids?"
"Sounds good. Ohh! I love this song c'mon Sky." She dragged him into the dance floor as 'A Moment Like This' came on. He wrapped his arm around her waist and took her other hand in his. She placed one hand on his shoulder. They slowly rocked to the music, which in her opinion ended too soon.
"That was nice," she whispered, "So now you want to meet the kids?"
"Yes." He said quickly,
"Then, follow me." She took his hand and led him to a smaller room off the main room. Inside the kids were playing, but when she opened the door, they ran at her and hugged her.
"Sydney! Did you come to play with us?" A little girl in pink and white asked.
"Yes, but first. Let me introduce Sky. He's a friend of mine from the academy."
"Is he a ranger too, Syd?" A little boy in red asked, staring at Sky curiously.
"Yes, he's the blue ranger." She turned towards Sky and whispered, "Sorry, they ask a lot of questions."
"No problem. You are really good with them."
"Syd, come play with us."
"Okay, we're coming. What are you playing?"
"Fairy Tales, Syd you can be Sleeping Beauty and Sky can be Prince Phillip."
"Okay." Sky said swiftly. He put on the cape and took out the sword.
"Ummm...Sky do you know this fairy tale?" Syd said blushing. But, he didn't hear her as the kids dragged her off to find a dress.
A few minutes later...
"Okay so Syd's asleep and I have to kiss her?"
"Yeap."
"Why?"
"Cuz, it's part of the story. And you like Miss Sydney."
Sky sputtered, "I do not."
"I'm just a kid but, I'm not blind. She likes you too. Just kiss her."
He walked away and the kids began the play.
1 hour and some mistakes later...
Sky leaned over to kiss 'Sleeping Beauty' and the kids grew quiet waiting for the kiss. Sky gently kissed her and her eyes fluttered open. She smiled as Sky helped her up. They took a bow and the kids clapped.
"Now you have to dance. Sleeping Beauty and Prince Phillip always dance at the end."
Not wanting to disappoint the kids they danced around. They got lost in each others eyes and lost track of time until Syd's mother came looking for her.
"Syd, where have you been...oh." Her mother laughed and left the room. They followed her.
"Here's my girl." Her dad said hugging her. Kim watched smiling,
"Hi daddy. You remember Sky don't you daddy?" Tommy nodded and winked at her.
"Of course, Jen and Wes's son. How are you Sky?"
"Just fine sir."
"Please call me Tommy. I'm not that old yet."
"Tommy, Syd, Sky follow me." Kim said as she took Tommy's hand. Sky and Syd followed quickly onto the stage.
"We've raised $5,000 for the orphanage. As promise my daughter Sydney will match the donations. Here she is." Sydney walked next to her mother and spoke into the microphone.
"Hey everyone. So $5,000 well, if I did the math right that makes $10,000. Wow! Here's the check, signed and delivered." They crowd cheered and she smiled. Sky walked up to her and put his hands around her waist.
"Syd?"
"Hmm?"
"Be my girlfriend?"
"Of Course." She smiled and kissed him.
