PROVE TO MYSELF

DISCLAIMER

It occurred to me while watching the scene in "Dream Masters" when Rick came up, that Joey and Kristen looked kind of uncomfortable with the whole "kiss and tell" conversation, and this is just my idea of why. Takes place in between the movies and belongs to Wes Craven and New Line Cinema. Slight spoilers for Dream Masters.

Kristen Parker stared at Joey Crusel in surprise. Had she heard him right? Had he really asked her what she thought he asked her?

"You want to what?" she demanded.

"I--I know it's a weird request Kris, but I'm desperate," he said.

"I have a boyfriend, Joey," she reminded him.

"I--I know. But--but I can't get him out of my head," he told her.

"And you think making out with me will cure that?" she asked. Then, "Did you have Lorenzo slip you something?" He shot her a dirty look.

"Kris, I--I know what I'm asking," he said. He sighed. "Every time I start to fantasize, I see him! I feel him! I need to prove to myself that I'm not damaged," he continued, raking his hair with his fingers.

"This is crazy. You know that?" Kristen questioned.

"Yeah. I--I know," Joey commented.

"You're serious about this?" Kristen questioned.

"Yeah," Joey nodded. Kristen bit her lip. Joey was right: it was a weird request, but on a certain level, she could see things from his point of view. It had to be tough having that nightmare freak in your head when you tried to think about a girl. She sighed. I can't believe I'm going to say this, she thought to herself.

"Okay, Joey. We can do this," she told him.

"Really?" he asked hopefully. She nodded. He put his hand on her cheek, leaned in and put his lips on hers. For a moment, he hesitated, but then he grew more confident. Unable to help herself, Kristen ran her fingers through his hair and Joey did likewise. They stumbled towards the bed, and then sank into the mattress, neither of them knowing that he would soon be wishing that he hadn't talked her into it.
