Tyson hated the cold. He was a summer person, who enjoyed fresh air and sunshine. Sure, snow was great and all, but it still didn't make up for the fact that it was colder than Tyson's freezer.
Today was no better. In fact, it was worse. It was so cold, it couldn't even snow.
So why on earth was he outside?!
Because Kai wanted to take a walk and you have a huge crush on him, Said a voice in his head, matter-of-factly.
Shut up. He told it.
You asked.
Go away.
Fine. See if I ever answer any of your questions again.
Tyson looked up at Kai, who appeared to be actually enjoying himself for once. The wind picked up and he shivered.
"What's wrong?" asked Kai.
"'M cold." Muttered Tyson into his scarf.
"What do you mean cold? It's not cold."
"You're from Russia. You're never cold." Maybe he was going crazy (the previous dialogue in his head definitely suggested so) but he thought he saw Kai smile ever so slightly.
Tyson shivered again.
"I hate being cold." Kai raised an eyebrow and the oh-so-faint smile grew by a fraction of a mille-meter.
"What about all those layers you're wearing?" Tyson shook his head in disgust.
"They barely help at all. My toes are numb, my fingers are numb, my lips are numb… the cold sucks." Kai looked oddly thoughtful.
Then he turned, took Tyson's freezing face in his hands, and pressed his lips against other boy's. Warmth, wonderful, glorious warmth, flooded Tyson, making his toes curl up in delight. He closed his eyes and smiled, kissing Kai back.
When they pulled away, Tyson felt dazed but elated. He knew there was a large, goofy grin on his face, and he didn't care. Kai, eyes shining brightly, gave him a quiet smile.
"Now how do you feel?"
"Great. Wonderful. Terrific. Super. You?"
"Can't complain." Kai was grinning now, actually grinning.
"Hot chocolate at the dojo?" suggested Tyson.
"Sounds good." Hand in hand, they headed back, and Tyson couldn't help but think that maybe- just maybe- the cold wasn't all that bad.
