EverQuest: Ruins of Kunark-My Observational Monologue

Either I did really well with my first rant or only people who liked it responded. Either way, Im back for more, and this time Im going to talk about the Ruins of Kunark. Just let me say that since my last rant, alot of things started looking up for me. My theory about how high levels only talk to you when you dont con green (followed by go ahead and kill the bastard, he's a newbie and will only ask for some spare change) to them. I raised my Paladin, Raires, on Firiona Vie to about level 10 then I decided to ty and be a dark race on a PVP server, Tallon Zek. I created Aelas, a dark elf magician. I have this one thing to say, Nektulos forest is the worst newbie zone I've ever played on. This thing makes the Northern Desert of Ro look like the Misty Thicket. There are no enemies whatsoever and the ones you do find (usually Young Kodiaks, lucky me) con red. By the way, those of you who have read my other story, "That's Not who I am...", the Aelas I wrote about is actually my character in the game. I drew off my in game experiences for that story. Anyway, I'd always know Kunark was great. But when I heard that my friend leveled from 10 to 30 there, I had to get it. I looked in stores forever before I realized that I couldnt buy it separate from the Trilogy. I wasn't about to buy Velious (I'm not Uber and don't like getting between the Dragons and Giants), so I took to the web. Fortunately, the EverQuest online site offered it to me. I got it home, loaded it up, and started playing.

I created an Iksar Monk, pretty good combination, if I do say so myself. I did this because I decided caster classes weren't for me. I don't like re-memorizing spells and waiting between battles for my Mana to charge. That spell book is about as interesting as a Xerox manual being read by an old guy at a funeral for a businessman who worked in writing Xerox manuals. I like getting in and bloodying my knuckles with cool fighting techniques, so I decided to make my Iksar Monk Xaerus. I started up, and *ahem* it was awesome. Iksar are a superior class in almost every way. Our quests are easy for newbies to do (unlike Pally Quests in Freeport, you need whole Guild to do those). Being dark isn't all bad as long as you stick to your own kind. What I love though is the newbie zones. Verant must have created this expansion with Newbies in mind because there are FOUR newbie zones outside of Cabilis and all of them are great. What I love is, all of the enemies are pretty easy, even the ones that con yellow, but when you attack one of them, whole trains will flock to kill you. A few round kicks later and youre standing over a pile of corpses, getting more and more coin, and raking in the XP. These newbie zones make all of Antonica look like Velious in terms of newbie conditions.

If you haven't yet, go out and get Kunark because I have almost nothing bad to say about it. What's that, oh yes, just put it over there.... sorry about that, that was a Verant rep asking me where they should put the pool table stuffed with 50 dollar bills. Oh, and, the people in Kunark are friendly and actually talk. Maybe the humans can learn a lesson from their scaly neighbors. Head over to Kunark or send me, Xaerus, a tell on Tallon Zek. Or send one to Aelas on Tallon Zek or Raires on Firiona Vie. Happy Hunting everyone!

Oh,and by the way, I want to plug my guild. Our name is "Fate's Minions" and out Leader is Rarulak. Send him tells to join. Thanks.
