Gold

A/N: This is just a quick drabble that struck me as amusing so I decided to write it down.

"Mr Wonka, what is this?"

Willy Wonka looked up from his catastrophically boring paper work.

"That, Charlie, is an empty nail polish vile filled with little pieces of gold." Having said that his head bowed down again as he attempted to finish signing the meter high pile of various documents.

"Where did you find the gold?" The smallish boy asked. For Willy Wonka was annoyed to say that Charlie was a little boy no longer, despite his attempts at stemming the growth of the young child (man!)

"Oh… around," It was a vague answer, but Willy was really quite busy and he didn't need any distractions, thank you very much!

"Whereabouts 'around', exactly, Mr Wonka?"

Take a deep breath and don't hit the kid.

"Ah… places?"

"Oh…"

Silence. Blessed Silence.

"What are you gonna do with it?"

Oh dear Lord! Did this boy not understand that the sooner the paper work was done the soonerthey could both leave this cursed room? So in cool tones he explained.

"When I fill it all the way to the top, I'm gonna have the Oompa Loompas melt it down into a button or two."

There was a pause, Willy knew better then to think this would be the end of the conversation.

"Why buttons?"

Gloves squeaked as a hand's grip suddenly increased tenfold.

"Because I've found that having a spare button is always handy."

Silence.

"Where did you get the nail polish vile?"
