Scarlett Tears

Unlocking the door to the apartment he noticed that inside it was unusually still compared to the storm raging outside. When Vegas rained it poured. Normally Sara was there waiting for him on the sofa reading some book. This past week it had been Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell. Sara had first described it to him as "one of the most amazingly fantastic books of all time". Peering into the bedroom he saw a dark figure standing at the window. Crossing the room he came up behind her, trailing his hands up her arms. Gently he encircled her lithe frame pulling her back so she rested against his chest. Kissing the top of her head he waited. Patience was on thing he had plenty of and when they had first started dating he promised himself that he would never push her. And so far he had kept that promise.
"I finished the book." Her voice had a quality that he didn't normally here. It almost sounded broken, desolate.
"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" His deep voice rumbled in his chest, vibrating slightly behind her head.
"Have you ever read Gone with the Wind Gil?"
"Once a long time ago."
Sara drew in a breath, quivering slightly. "It's always made me cry at the end. No matter how many time I read it. There is just something about the pain she goes through time and time again, always coming back stronger than ever. But then at the end it seems like defeat." She wiped a tear from her face.
"Tomorrow is a another day."
She smiled slightly as he quoted the last line of the book. "Have I ever mentioned how much I love you?"
Grissom bent his head, kissing the crown of her head gently. "Not as many times as I have told you."
Standing there at the window watching drops of rain slid down the windowpane she smiled. Every roadblock thrown in your way was there for only one reason, to make you stronger. It was just like Scarlett said. 'Tomorrow is another day.' Another day to prove that it didn't kill you. Another day to be alive.
