So this is a short one-shot that may turn into a many-shot thing if people want me to continue it. Also, thank you to everyone who reviewed my last stories. It probably doesn't seem like it, but your reviews make my day. Enjoy!

Jace smiled to himself as he sketched a crude silence rune on the paper in front of him. His eleven year old skill allowed him to draw it, though it wasn't very bottom was out of proportion and the top curled in too much. Jace, though, was very proud for having learned the rune the day before.

Alec was sitting across from him with Izzy. She had her long hair in two braids down her back and was arguing with Alec over whose turn it was to feed Church. It was quite a heated argument and Izzy was getting frustrated. She was determined to believe herself right. Though as Jace listened, it sounded as if Alec had the better argument.

Hodge then strode into the kitchen where the three young shadow hunters were, humming something under his breath. He opened the fridge and examined all of his containers with his name labeled on them. Hodge had to crouch down slightly to survey the shelves due to his tall frame. Though as he looked, something seemed out of place. He distinctly remembered every food item he had labeled and one was missing. He had cut up a mango the night before and put it in the fridge, deciding to have it the next day. Now, as Hodge scanned the shelves for the offending item, it seemed to have evaporated into thin air.

Jace kept his head down, pretending to be dutifully practicing. His heart rate sped up when he saw Hodge bend down to inspect the fridge. Jace was the culprit who had eaten the mango a half hour ago. He couldn't help himself. Jace been the only one in the kitchen and was starving. When he saw the delectable orange of the mango sitting perfectly in Hodges container, it was hard to resist. Maybe Hodge wouldn't notice. Maybe he forgot about the mango. Maybe-

"Children?" Hodge asked straightening up and looking at them. "Have you seen the mango I cut up yesterday?"

No. Play it cool, Jace. Play it cool. Jace shrugged, aiming for nonchalance. "I didn't eat it."

Hodge looked evenly at him. "Who said anything about eating it?"

Dang it! He had been caught. Maybe there was still a way out ... Jace took a breath. Then blurted, "Alec ate your mango."

"What? No I didn't!" was Alec's immediate response.

"You did too! I saw you!" Jace lied. He felt a little bad for lying, but not as bad as he would feel about getting caught. "You ate the whole thing."

"Yeah!" Izzy chimed in, not wanting to feel left out. "I saw too!" Of course she didn't actually see Alec eat the mango in question[,] but if Jace said so[,] it must be true, right? And besides, she was still angry at Alec from earlier. Their debate about Church's food schedule hadn't come to a conclusion.

"Stop lying!" Alec demanded. "I didn't eat anything."

"Alec," Hodge said kindly. "I don't mind. Just next time ask me. It isn't polite to take things without permission." He said in a slightly condescending tone.

Alec looked about to cry in frustration, "But I-"

"Alec. This discussion is over. I don't appreciate lying." He said more firmly this time. Then he strode out of the kitchen, mangoless.

Jace inwardly smirked as he licked his lips. He could still taste the flavor of mango.
