I got this idea after re-watching a Monk episode after seeing the new Warehouse 13. The idea of even ordinary people being able to create artifacts got me wondering what sort of an artifact would come from a man like Monk.

"Hey, Artie?" Claudia asks as she steps into his office.
"Did you finish inventory yet?" Artie says; neither looking up from his computer nor responding to her question.
"Just now. But there was one display board I couldn't get to work. It was for a ring in aisle 234, next to Oppenheimer's journal."
"Yeah, it's always breaking down. Has to do with the destructive properties of the journal. I'll replace it later."
"Got it." Claudia heads to the door, ready to leave, when she remembers what she had wanted to ask Artie. "Why's the ring here? Does it cut off fingers or something?"
Artie finally looks up. "No, no. The ring belonged to a woman named Trudy Monk. She was murdered in '97, and her husband carried it around for years afterward. It became imbued with his love and devotion for her, and if you wear it long enough you can find your true love."
"Doesn't sound so bad," Claudia comments.
"If you wear it for too long," Artie continues, "he or she will die a very painful death within ten years of your marriage."
"Oh." There's a short pause as she absorbs the information. "I'm going to get some dinner at the B&B. You want anything?"
"I'm good." Claudia leaves, and Artie is left alone in the Warehouse. He shifts in his seat a couple times before getting back to work.
