Swirls of colorful gases mixed with bright specks of light that swam together on the ceiling of a small room, constantly shifting and changing. Underneath the cosmic display was a small crib with a sleeping infant inside snuggled beneath a baby blue blanket, a moon and stars mobile gently circulating above him. Standing in the doorway blocking the light from the hallway were the mother and father of the small child, whispering quietly to one another as they watched their young son sleep.

"Are you sure this is a good idea? Why not just use a nightlight?"

"That's for humans. Time Lords use these. Don't worry; it's just a small piece. He's still too young to handle the TARDIS yet. This is only strong enough to be in the back of his mind but it will help him strengthen his telepathic abilities later on. Plus, this way he won't be scared of being alone because she'll be right there with him."

"Okay, if you're sure."

"I am. I wouldn't even suggest this if I wasn't certain it was safe for him." The man smiled at his wife and gently kissed her forehead before quietly slipping into the baby's room. He placed a small piece of what could have easily been mistaken for coral on the nightstand beside the crib.

Almost immediately the little infant scrunched up his face and squirmed around a bit, but after a few seconds he quieted down with a small smile on his face; still sound asleep. The man smiled warmly, walking over to the crib and carefully ran the backs of his fingers over the infant's cheek. The woman came to stand next to him and leaned down to lay a tiny kiss on the baby's forehead. The man and woman stood there for a few more moments before twining their hands together and walking out of the room, softly shutting the door behind them.

As the infant continued to sleep he dreamed of distant stars and planets, listening to the sound of a timeless song that only he could hear.
