Madness

One refrain that is unchanged

By every move my thoughts have proved

I will never be clean again.

Humble and patient, yet gleaming fire

Devouring all that is left of me

Chained to the devices of a mind that is sick,

A bird with broken wings, yet I'm said to be free.

Wandering, grasping at just one shred

A fragment of what I once possessed

So many traitors have emptied me,

It weakened me to so much less.

Once I was a tower

Now I am a foundation

Badly built and cracking

I have found the solidity needed to build a life.

Hidden from me, who in so much is lacking

They say this madness is trainable

Like a misbehaved circus beast

I am sticking to the madness.

For better or worse,

Till death do us part

To say the very least.
