Warning: Spoilers for Murder...Anyone?...Anyone?...Bueller?
A/N: I tend to stay away from attempting my hand at Psych fanfics. The show is genuis and I figure that nothing I write would ever be good enough. However, I have noticed that quite a few Psych fans didn't like the Shawn/Abby ending of the last episode. I was hoping for some Shules action and that ending couldn't have been better for me. Anyway, Abby is clearly not a good choice for Shawn - Juliet was the one cracking up when he referenced The Breakfast Club! I could go on in this strain for awhile but, if I did, the Author's Note would be longer than this short one-shot. Please read and review!
It had been the right moment with the wrong person.
Yet, in that right moment with the wrong person, he came to discover the right person.
She was across the room, pretty in pink - those '80 movie references had been stuck in his head all night, even though he had gone to high school in the '90's - oblivious to the look on his face or the revelations taking place in his heart.
Had he been a real psychic, he would've realized that the woman leaving him had wanted the kiss to be more than just closure. That the feelings it had conjured made her long for a relationship - with him.
Unfortunately for her, he had fallen some time ago for the lithe blonde detective who lingered, talking to Gus, across the room.
Heart in his throat, he headed toward her, smiling when he reached his two friends.
Her eyes fixed on him, a radiant smile adorning her face.
"Hey Shawn," she said, eyes bright.
"Shawn." Gus nodded his head at his friend, a wide grin on his face.
Ignoring the person he had just declared to the entire class of '95 to be his best friend, Shawn held a hand out to her. "Juliet, want to do the shuffle with me?"
"The shuffle?" she arched an eyebrow. "If you're asking me to dance, then sure."
Out on the dance floor, he was tempted to hold her close, smell her hair, press his lips to her neck.
Instead, he spun her around wildly, making her laugh.
She was his right person but she didn't know it.
One day, she would see what he had.
But first, she had to have her own right moment with the wrong person.
Until then, Shawn would be waiting.
