Lina opened her eyes. She blinked sleepily. What happened? She was supposed to be at Dragon's Peak...but this was...this was...where was this?..WHERE WAS SHE???
She trained her eyes to the dark. She squinted a little, trying to make out the figure in the shadows.
"My, my...whatever are you doing, my dear, sweet, Lina-chan?" a seductive voice drawled, and as he walked into the moonlight, she was finally able to make out his face...
Xelloss. She felt her heart race. He was here! Dammit!
She looked at him and he was gone! She felt a presence behind her.
"The way you're acting, one would think you actually missed me, Lina-chan..." he whispered.
He put his arms around her.
"Did you miss me, Lina-chan?"
Did she miss him? She wasn't sure.
"You will. Don't worry."
Damn him. The jerk was reading her mind.
She wanted to scream at him. She wanted to kick him to the next planet. Pound him to the ground. But she couldn't. And to make matters worse, she didn't want to.
She remembered his smile, and wondered what it would feel like to kiss him.
"I can always help you with that, you know..." he said softly. He appeared right in front of her, their faces almost touching. "Ne, Lina-chan?"
Lina stared at him, looking into deep amethyst eyes...seemingly filled with warmth...
She closed her eyes. She could feel him lean closer...closer...
Nothing.
"Ah, yes. I DID say that you'll miss me, ne Lina-chan? I 've got to go, for now. Ja na...wait for me, Lina-chan?"
He saw her face. Had a whole map of pops along the forehead. Chanting.
"Darkness from the blood that flows..."
He blinked to his former spot and ran a finger across her cheek. Lina snapped out of her trance, just in time to hear Xellos whisper...
" I love you."
