I do not own harry potter.

Summary; Tom Riddle writes a letter to Santa.

Warning; use of the F word.

Dear Santa Claus,

People are stupid. They tell themselves lies. Stupid lies. Or maybe the stupidity of the lies causes their stupidity. It's a chicken and the egg thing.

When they are children they believe in you. You are supposedly a jolly fat man in a red suit who visits every good child in the world to give him or her a present.

Ignoring the fact that this is impossible, why would you do such a thing? People only do things if there is something in it for them. For example; rich people give toys to the orphanage because it makes them look good and because they think that it makes up for all the crappy things they do during the year.

You don't have to make yourself look good. You live at the North Pole, you don't have to talk to people. You don't have to worry about the fact that your factory killed little Jenny's father and that little Jenny's mother committed suicide after you evicted her because she couldn't pay the rent. Therefore you don't have to give Jenny an second hand teddy bear to ease your twitchy conscience and remain an upstanding member of society.

And who says that you get to judge who's good and bad, who's naughty and nice? You're immortal, you know everything (right down to who stole the cookies from the cookie jar) and you can be everywhere at once. What do you understand about hunger, about cold, about envy, about rats in the walls and mold on the floors? What do you understand about misery? What do you understand about having to be grateful for every single little crumb that they throw you and having to watch other people being handed everything on a silver platter?

Fuck you Santa.

When people are adults they believe in god. God is like you in that he decides who is naughty and nice.

According to adults, God created everything and everyone. Including the thin blanket on my bed and the fat Member of Parliament who thinks that we eat too much.

God is all powerful. He knows everything, he watches you all the time. If you are bad he will know and he will send you to hell.

Hell is a place where you will be tortured forever.

People who have been bad during the short two thirds of a century in which they live, are sent, forever, to a place of everlasting torment. There they spend the rest of eternity repenting and reflecting upon God's mercy.

God created everything and he is always watching. He watches men hit their wives. He watches the wealthy milk the poor like cows. He watches children starve. He watches murders and rapists and death and misery. And he doesn't do a thing about it.

God is all powerful. If something he doesn't like is happening, he can fix it. Therefore, if he doesn't fix it he must like it.

According to adults, god is good.

He plays with people like they are dolls, or like they are ants and he is a small boy with a magnifying glass. He created a world without mercy, yet he demands that we are merciful. He created a world without love, yet he demands that we love him. He created pain and he thinks we are the ones that require forgiveness.

I think that it is good to be God and bad to be anyone else.

Therefore, I would like to be God.

Yours sincerely,

Tom Marvolo Riddle, (aged 7)

PS, Could you get Sam to stop beating me up?
