A/N: I really love Balthazar and Castiel. They're absolutely adorable together... When I thought of this I was listening to 'Either Side of Heaven' off of youtube. Hope you enjoy :)
"I'm sorry," he murmured with his head bowed. The angel standing before him smiled sadly, as if he accepted the apology but the idea would always haunt him. "I should... I should have gotten help," he muttered shaking his head, keeping his blue eyes fixed on the dusty ground.
"It's not your fault, Cassie," he said, his smile grew into a heartfelt grin.
"Will I see you again?" Castiel asked although he thought he knew the answer already.
Balthazar heaved a sigh, his smile fading. "My dear Cassie," he murmured as he blue eyes darkened. "I'm afraid it's not likely," he said quietly with a sad glint in his eyes. He wanted this no more than Castiel did. He took a deep breath before he wrapped Castiel in a tight hug. "You were great, and don't think anything else of yourself," he murmured, forcing himself not to breakdown. "Someday, maybe, we'll meet again," he murmured hopefully, but his eyes were clouded with doubt.
Castiel pulled away from Balthazar's hug and nodded stiffly, he knew it wasn't likely they would meet again. "Then I await that day." Balthazar gave Castiel one last meaningful smile before he vanished with the sound of soft ruffling wings, leaving Castiel staring blankly at the empty space where Balthazar had stood moments before.
A/N: I'm not sure if I'm going to add more to it... I might... Like I might do some background as to what made them as close as they actually were in the show, and what led up to the last time they met when Castiel killed him... But I'm not sure yet. Still deciding on that... I've still got other stories to work on too... I need to remember that.
