Tamaki was the last to realize Haruhi was a girl, but the first to realize his love for her. He was eager to spend time with her, please her, and keep all other guys off her. But Tamaki was an idiot. He was not the one.
Kyouya never expected to find any benefit in the commoner who had an uncanny flair for racking up debt. But as he spent more and more time with her, he discovered the personal merits he received from just being around her. But he was still too cold and calculating. He was not the one either.
Hikaru and Kaoru's horizons were broadened by the only girl who'd ever been able to tell them apart. Kaoru hadn't expected feelings of love to develop from Hikaru and Haruhi's date, but he was even more surprised to uncover his own feelings toward her. However, their world couldn't include Haruhi without trauma for at least one of them. So, neither of them could be the one.
Honey-senpai was more concerned with cute things and cake than anything else. He definitely wasn't the one.
But there was another member of the Host Club. He was a man of few words, but Haruhi found his silence comforting. He didn't feel the need to fill the air with idle talk, but instead, she could sit with him in tranquility; their minds understanding each other completely. She even loved the serious expression he always had on his face.
One day, she couldn't hold it in any longer. She picked him up and gave him a tight squeeze.
"I love you, Kuma-chan!"
Tamaki sobbed silently in a corner. "…Haruhi loves my teddy bear more than me..."
Author's Note: I would like to apologize to Mori, who is probably disappointed that he didn't show up in this fic, when everyone thought he would.
Mori: (completely expressionless) Hm.
Author: (cowers in fear) I'm sorry, please don't kill me with your great and terrible kendo skills!
