Okay, this is a drabble/oneshot that I wrote at something like two in the morning...and I was inspired to right it by a school assignment...but as always, the inspiration for Dusk and Noon's personalities come from the KttK series and my own personal experiences. ((cough))...
As you may see, this is based on KttK, therefore...I don't own it. Garth Nix does...lucky bastard.
And this goes out to the lovely reviewer who commented on "Cover Thief"...
Board Meetings
-takes place before Mister Monday
There was little to no point in coming to a board meeting in the Dayroom. Mister Monday himself did not attend, Sneezer would not leave his master's side and Dawn was busy, painting the skies of lesser worlds. In truth, the only denizens who did attend the "meetings" weren't discussing politics or proprietary conduct.
They weren't discussing much at all, actually.
((O0oo0O))
Tumbling across a floor covered in cushions, Noon growled, "I'm afraid you need to be taught a lesson, brother." He rose to his knees and reached out, snagging Dusk by the lapels of his surcoat. They went down, Dusk on top…but then Noon was rolling and rolling. Cushions padded their movements, but they had good holds on one another; Dusk was gripping Noon by the shoulders when they finally stopped moving. The breath was ragged...they stared into one another's eyes with something like vieled threat, distorted by layered desire.
Both were dizzy and mussed, but when Noon glared down at his conquered lover he could only smile in an uncharacteristically silly way. "Do you yield?"
Dusk glared right back, one for one; before he could move away, Noon found himself pinned, gazing up into dusky eyes. The night denizen smiled, "You know you're a pain in the ass, right?"
There was a twinkle in Noon's eyes; "Not yet, I'm not." He pulled his brother's head down for a kiss…
…when the doors to the dayroom were suddenly flung open and in glided Dawn, radiant in gold and silver light. She was making her way across the room, saw them and stopped, mid-step. Her amber eyes opened a little wider and her lips stretched upward…uh-oh.
Noon tried to push Dusk off, but his brother was just too shocked to move.
There was a small, pregnant silence in which Dawn said nothing but only coughed delicately. Turning on a slippered heel, she tossed them a smirk, "Perhaps I should attend these meetings more often." She left the room, the door closing behind her. From within the room, both denizen could hear the other softly chanting, "I knew it...I knew it!"
Thoroughly mortified, the brothers just sat there, unable to move.
((O0oo0O))
The next month, at the scheduled board meeting, Dusk and Noon were joined by Dawn, who wore a smile of supreme amusement. Carefully, the brothers chose seats on the other side of the room and resolutely looked in opposite directions.
-The End.
So...yea. This was yet another shot at my favorite KttK pairing. I love them...so cuters. Maybe next time, I'll throw Dawn or Arthur in the middle. ((yummy))
And yea...This is also dedicated to D & D...my real life denizens. Lol. Just because you two are too cute to pass up.
