The streets of the city were eerily quiet, the doors to homes were barred and shops were locked up. Nothing moved through the streets, save for one blue alien in a red jumpsuit. The little alien crawled up onto one of the roofs to recollect himself. As he stared into the stars a tear came to his eye for his lost home and lost family. "Jumba...Pleakley...Nani...Li-Lilo" he whispered up to the stars.
His eyes watered as he remembered the shadows rising up and starting to attack the natives of Hawaii: the face of Lilo as she watched her sister be consumed by the Darkness; Jumba, telling them to get onto the ship to save themselves; Lilo, being caught by a shadow wreathed in armor. "RRRAAAAWWW", the blue alien shouted at the sky in frustration. He had been unable to save Lilo, he couldn't hurt the monster with his claws. He was helpless against it, a feeling he never wanted to feel again.
He remembered Lilo yelling at him to get on the ship and save himself. He remembered starting the ship, glancing back just in time to see Lilo's face as the Darkness consumed her and closed around the ship. He drifted among the stars for what seemed like a lifetime, not moving except to eat and to answer those unavoidable calls of nature. It wasn't until the proximity alarm had gone off that he started moving. It was a small armada of ships and according to the computer they bore the same symbol of the Darkness.
A look of grim determination settled upon his face as he readied the weapons, he'd destroy every one of those ships if it killed him. As the distance closed between them, the auto-turret belched bolts of blue-white plasma that shot forward and nailed one of the ships causing it to explode. The ships open fired and the gigantic red ship lurched to the left to avoid being hit.
With the auto-turret firing away the alien was free to dodge and weave the gigantic ship through asteroids to deter fire. Little spurts of fire appeared on the surface of the asteroids as the pursuing ships attempted to follow the red monstrosity. How the red ship made it through the asteroid belt in one piece is anyone's guess, but as it exited it came upon a small world.
The little blue alien piloted the ship into a low orbit and managed to find a place to land. Unfortunately one of the enemy ships had made it through the asteroid belt and got off one shot before being torn to pieces by the auto-turret. This was apparently a lucky shot as it hit the right engine causing the ship to crash on the surface of a planet.
A scream brought the alien's thoughts back to the present as he saw a woman being chased down the streets by a hoard of shadows. An evil grin stole across the alien's smile as he pulled 4 plasma pistols out from their holsters. Lilo might be gone, thought the alien as he jumped off the roof and made his way to defend the woman, but I will be good... for her sake.

This was written before Birth by Sleep came out so any inconsistencies can be blamed on that.
