"Barton was sent to kill me…" Her mind drifted backwards to a time that left a dent in her past forever, a time that shamed her, but a the same time built up her reputation as the fabulous agent that she was and is.
Chapter one- Without Meaning
Natahsha Romanoff:
Sure, she disagreed, but this was the only job she could get and the only one she cared about. She thought this man was innocent, but as usual her opinion didn't matter. Why should it? She, the heartless assassin was supposed to and known to be able to kill anyone without guilt, not caring whether innocent or not, just following orders.
At this point, her opinion wasn't her concern. This man was supposedly associated with SHEILD, possibly at one point an agent. They were watching over him and SHEILD, being the main spy network of all time would know if someone was sent out to kill him. Now, she suspected she had a SHEILD agent on her tail. Nothing she couldn't handle, just a hassle. She didn't need problems like this, she had enough already.
I'm not getting paid enough for this. She thought, but it didn't matter. If she didn't go through with the orders she'd have a whole system chasing her down and trying to kill her. She knew too much about them and if she turned on them, she knew that they'd fight back. And she wasn't sure if this was a battle she could win. She didn't want to take that chance. So she was just going to have to follow her commands and deal with whatever SHEILD sent after her.
Clint Barton:
He didn't exactly agree with this, and he wasn't exactly pleased to be the agent sent out to kill this "Natasha Romanoff". He didn't consider her a threat. If an agent came after SHEILD every time they killed someone of the opposing agency half of SHEILD would be either dead or hunted now.
Despite his thoughts, he felt a little honored. This was an important mission and it was a huge honor for Fury to choose him. This was because Natasha Romanoff was their biggest threat. Because SHEILD knew that she was the only one that could ever match their agents or even beat them. She was extremely dangerous because she worked for no one and everyone. She knew al of the secrets of all the biggest agencies out there.
These were the exact reasons why Clint thought that SHEILD should recruit her, or at least try. She knew so much that could be of use to them and Clint thought it was worth the risk to try. Nobody else in SHEILD seemed to have this opinion however, or at least they didn't show it. Clint guessed that it was because they were scared. The famous Black Widow, possibly the only thing they ended up being scared of. People are scared of what they can't control and that was Clint's best guess at why SHEILD didn't want her on their team. There was no guarantee she'd follow the commands given and stick with SHEILD for a lifetime. And in a way, Clint understood.
And so the hawk set off to kill the spider.
