There were times when Annabeth would do anything to have Luke back.
Sometimes she considered abandoning everyone who was counting on her so she could be with Luke again.
It didn't make sense. Annabeth was supposed to be smart. She was supposed to know better than to hurt her friends so she could be with the boy she loved-the boy who probably didn't even want her.
But somehow, she didn't know better. She just wanted Luke. She didn't even care if he didn't love her back in the same way. She would take Luke back in whatever way possible-boyfriend, friend, brother-anything was better than enemy.
A small, rational part of her knew that being with Luke wasn't right for her, and sometimes she listened to that part.
But the rest of the time, Annabeth would do anything to have Luke back.
