Title: Lecture Interrupted
Characters: Widia, Temaru... Yoda, some Jedi Agri-Corps trainees...
Timeframe: pre-AOTC (AU, set in the Obsessed With Flowers time line.)
Notes: Written for the Monday Mush Mania Challenge: "Of all the people he/she had hoped to see walk through that door, he/she was the very last one he/she had imagined would come to his/her rescue."
Of all the people he had hoped to see walk through that door, she was the very last person he had imagined would come to his rescue. He wanted to run to her and thank her for interrupting Master Yoda's lecture on how to influnce single-celled organisms, but that would have broken decorum and led to a long explanation that Master Yoda would have seen right through. He didn?t need to know that he was a bad lecturer for teens and adults who already knew how to influence single-celled organisms, did he?
The woman at the door smiled in his direction and waited for Master Yoda to notice her. When he nodded in her direction, she returned the nod in respect. "I can take it from here, Master Yoda."
"Very well," Master Yoda said as he got down from the lecturn. "On screen 475, I was."
She waited while he exited the room, then turned to face the students in the room and smiled. "So... anyone have any questions after all that, or should I finish that lecture?" She pointed to a padawan who had raised his hand. "Yes, Felas?"
"Can you teach us all the time?"
She laughed. "We'll see. Dismissed. We'll regroup in the gardens for afternoon workshops in three hours." He waited until everyone else had filed out before joining her at the front of the room. "Felt you calling me a hundred floors away, Temaru. Though I don't think "help, he's doing it again! Save us!" was the way to NOT attract attention."
Temaru smiled at her. "Didn't expect you to actually answer it by politely shooing him out, Widia."
She glanced toward the door, which was now closed, and contemplated it for a long moment. Then she turned back to him. "You don't know me well enough, then."
"Maybe we could get to know each other better? You did give us three hours, after all..." Temaru let the thought hang in the air suggestively, and smiled coyly at her. "Would be a shame to waste it."
Widia playfully rolled her eyes at him. "Perhaps over lunch, then?"
"Perhaps..." The word had barely left his mouth when she surprised him with a sudden kiss and then walked away as if nothing had happened. "What was that for?"
She paused at the door, and glanced back at him, a smile in her eyes and on her lips. "You're so cute when you go for coy, Temaru." Then she opened the door and left the room.
He stood there for a long moment, then smiled again. It was nice to be surprised by her once in a while.
She poked her head in the door and looked at him in question. "You coming, or are you going to stay in here all afternoon?"
"Oh, I'm coming. Lunch is waiting!" She chuckled at that, and they walked away together.
