The weather was freezing outside. Iniabi couldn't help but shiver as he remembered the events of the previous few days. He and Idoun had been out traveling in Ylisse when a brutal snowstorm had flown in. The blizzard had frozen everything in a heavy sheet of snow and ice, to the point that the few roads or paths around were blocked off. Idoun also couldn't just fly herself and her husband out because it was too cold for her dragon form's wings, which would freeze stiff due to the frigid temperature, so she was stuck on the ground for the time being. Because of that, the couple couldn't return to Iona, Adrian, Cynthia, Marth, Sayvra, and the rest of Iniabi's family back in Ylisstol. Fortunately, though, the Exalt and former Demon Dragon had stumbled upon an empty traveler's cabin, and had taken shelter in it to wait for the snow and ice to melt enough for them to get through. Iniabi expected to be stuck there for a few days at most, but fortunately, the cabin had been stocked with enough food and water to last the two for at least two weeks. That of course meant that someone else was using the cabin, but the two didn't have any other choice. It was either that, or stay out in the cold and freeze to death.
Placing the wood that he'd collected on the ground, Iniabi slowly removed his tactician coat, his body protesting once the cold air inside the castle hit the bare skin of his arms his short sleeves didn't protect. Slowly making his way up to the cabin, the first thing he saw upon entering the single room was Idoun lying on the couch with no blanket. Iniabi winced. His second wife might be a Divine Dragon, but he wondered how she could sleep there and not feel the cold. Even with the fire, it was chilly. Grabbing the blanket that was on the back of the couch, he gently placed it over Idoun. However, as he went to grab the firewood that he'd dumped by the door, he felt a small hand encircle his wrist.
"Where y' goin'?" Idoun asked, still mostly asleep.
Iniabi remained silent for a few moments.
"Nowhere." Iniabi replied.
He leaned over and kissed the dragon woman on the lips, gently encouraging her to get into a seated position so that he could sit down as well. Iniabi expected her to just lie back down, but Idoun instead wrapped the blanket around her shoulders and clambered onto his lap, her arms around his shoulder and nuzzling her face under his chin.
"You're so warm... so warm." Idoun muttered under her breath.
She arched up and kissed Iniabi repeatedly. It was so... sweet. Iniabi never expected his life to end up like this. Before meeting Idoun, any plans for the future included only having Cynthia as a wife and Queen of Ylisse, and spending the rest of his days with her as they raised Marth and Sayvra. Having an additional love interest in the form of the former Demon Dragon of Elibe was not in the cards.
And yet, he couldn't complain... no matter how cold he was.
