HUH?

He sat on the floor by the side of his bed. -How had it happened?- he asked himself. -Why had it happened?- He was 14, he wore brown pants and a brown shirt. He had a smile that said he just had braces removed. He had curly, sandy-brown hair and his name was Bobby Brady.

She sat on the edge of her bed, unknowingly asking the same, or similar questions. She had light blond hair with braids on the sides. She was growing up; she wore pantyhose and white go-go boots with a blue denim dress; she wore almost no make-up and little jewelry; the little she wore was a pendant with a heart that was given to her on her 14th birthday by him. She was equally confused and her name was Cindy Brady.

(flashback, 30 minutes ago)

"Cindy, that is wrong and you know it!" Bobby shouted at his younger sister. THE argument. They seemed to argue more.

"You think you're so smart, Bobby Brady." came the reply. "It's only wrong because you didn't think of it first!" Sometimes that was, indeed, the basis for the argument. This time, Bobby was frustrated with her and arguing in her room since Peter and Jan were at choir practice. He turned away from her and threw his hands up in frustration. "Ugggghhh!" And she just stood there with her arms folded and a smug grin on her face. Then IT happened.

As Bobby turned and saw Cindy with that smug look, something changed. His frustration shifted, and he grabbed her by the head and pulled her into a kiss. At first she squealed and squirmed, then relaxed and almost moaned. Almost a full minute later they broke the kiss, looking into the other's eyes and thinking, -what just happened?- They stared, as if seeing each other for the first time. Both were terribly confused, but Bobby only had one thought: solitude, so his thoughts might make sense; that's why he returned to his room.

-We need to talk.- was all Bobby could think about. He stood, brushed his pants, and returned to Cindy's room. She still sat there, almost in shock. Bobby stood next to her. "Cindy?" but she just sat there with her gaze on the floor.

Bobby chose to squat and sit on his haunches and look up so Cindy might feel better. "You ran away." came the accusation. "Cindy, please, hear me out." Bobby replied. "Go ahead, and make it good."

"Cindy," Bobby started, "I'm just as startled, nervous and surprised, as you are." As he spoke, Bobby noticed his voice was getting softer and softer. "I don't know if this is simply passion, or if it's love." The emphasis he placed on the last word revealed what he hoped for. "I do know I'm not capable of thinking straight with my mind in a mess; I need to go for a jog and let my thoughts slow."

He noticed a tear trickling from her eyes and said, "Don't cry Cindy. I'm not worth it." As he stood, she raised her head and said, "I'm crying because I hope for true love also." That statement caused Bobby to blink multiple times and then he began to move; in her presence he knew he couldn't think straight.

He entered his room and changed to a pair of shorts, but he swore he heard Cindy crying. Looking back in her room, he does see her crying. He decides he can think here in his room. He goes over everything but he still hears crying; deciding what he wants, he chooses to see if reality will match his desires.

Sitting next to her to see if she will allow his presence he speaks softly, "Cindy?" Turning to look up at him, her eyes start to sparkle. She sat up and put her arms around him and he also placed his around her. "We need to work this out together, obviously. But also privately. As far as I'm concerned, this is between us. I really don't know what's going on inside me but I will say this: I LOVE YOU CINDY BRADY!" Through her tears she said, "I love you, Bobby Brady."
