A/N:

Alright, I decided to go over and edit this crap.

I'm sorry if Vermouth seems OOC, I usually skip over the Black Organization stuff when I read the manga.

it get's kinda old, really fast…

Shinichi flinched as she plucked a strand of long, brown hair from her scalp, handing it to Vermouth through the cell door. She could have just have easily sang the lullaby, but she was really self conscious about her singing.

"That's a good girl." She cooed, her hand glowing a faint gold. The few grey hairs she had vanished and her face regained its normal porcelain color. Shinichi glared at the older woman as she stalked away, dropping the strand of hair to the tiled floor. None of the other members of the Black Organization got to use Shinichi's hair, and Vermouth only used it to keep herself young, which Shinichi found absolutely disgusting.

Letting out a huff, she grouped around her bedside table for Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's 'The Sign of Four', the only luxury she had ever had. She then tried to get as comfy as she could on the rock hard cot, which wasn't easy, mind you, opened the book to a random page, propped it up on her knees', and began to read. She wasn't even two full paragraphs in before shouting erupted in the room.

"I DON'T CARE IF HE TAKES ANYTHING ELSE, JUST KEEP SUBJECT 0 GARDED!" Subject 0, that's what they called Shinichi, subject 0 or 'the girl.'

"B-But what if he takes pando-"

"THEN GARD THAT TOO YOU NITWIT!" Nitwit, that's a new one. Shinichi thought. She blinked as a piece of white paper fluttered by her cell door, and then setting her book down, quickly snatched it before anyone could notice.

Tonight, at 12:00,

I will steal what rightfully belongs to someone else

And whatever else you shouldn't own

P.S. You should stop looking so lonely

Shinichi felt a small smile tug at her lips as she read the note. She may have been cut off from the world, but she knew very well who the writer of the note was.

Maybe… Shinichi then quickly shook her head before her thoughts could go any farther. That last line wasn't meant for her. It was too much to hope for, end of story.

But that still didn't stop that small spark, even if it seemed pointless. Hope was the only thing she had left anyway.

The next few hours went by in a blur. Traps where set up, which in Shinichi's opinion, were never going to work. Guns were handed out to everyone, and guards were placed in front of her cell, and around Pandora.

It's funny, thought Shinichi, trying not to smirk as everyone scrambled around, watching everyone panic.

"It's almost time!" A loud and frantic voice shouted.

Shinichi dully looked at the clock which read 11:59, and she felt her heart skip a beat. Weather from fear or excitement, she didn't know.

Everyone went deathly still, their eyes darting around the room wildly, while Shinichi kept hers locked on the window.

He had to come in through there, as Shinichi hadn't seen anyone acting out of the ordinary.

As Shinichi finished that last thought, the window she was staring at smashed into tiny shards as a pink haze filled the room. It cleared rather quickly, and a certain thief clad in white was standing on top of Pandora's podium, holding the gem, with a smug look on his face.

"I really expected more from you guys." He commented. "I mean, you have been chasing me since god knows when." He was turning the gem over in his hands at this point, examining it with mild curiosity, like it was an everyday object.

"Oh!" he looked up, as if he suddenly remembered something important. "I almost forgot!" He snapped his figures, and every trap the Organization had set up went off, this time engulfing the room in a gray haze.

Shinichi coughed as the smoke wafted into her cell, waving her had to clear it away which was working to some extent. The smoke cleared, slowly but surely, finally reveling the thief standing mere inches away from Shinichi's cell.

"Get away from her!" One of the braver men shouted, pointing his gun at KID's head…well…hat.

The phantom thief looked around, and then pointed to himself. "Who me?" He asked, and then his lips broke into a grin. "I don't think I can do that."

Shinichi dared to let her hopes soar.

"GET HIM AWAY FROM SUBJECT 0!" Vermouth shouted, but it was too late. The room was, for the 3dh time, engulfed in smoke, this time a light blue.

Shinichi could see through it enough to see KID shoot at a few men with his card gun as they charged towards him, before he was close enough to her cell to unlock the door.

"Hello!" He grinned. He flashed a bobby pin through the small bars, and then set to work.

"I would have thought that a famous thief like you would have a professional lock picking kit." Shinichi stated dully, her eyes watching the thief's gloved hand work.

"I was running low on time." KID replied, looking up as a soft click rang out. "And a gentleman must always be on time!"

Shinichi scoffed as the door swung open. Then when the thief walked in, she looked up, her eyes widening slightly. "What are you doing?"

"Taking you away, what else?" he asked, and then ducked as a bullet when flying over his head. "They're getting nasty, aren't they?"

KID let out a mock sigh, the dramatically pulled something out of his pocket. The gun was knocked out of the shootee's hand with a card from KID's own gun, and then he started to fire at the sand bags strung on the ceiling.

They fell with a loud thwap, spraying sand at the oncoming Organization members, forcing them to stop.

"That sure was mighty convenient." KID had let out a low whistle, pocketing his gun once again. Shinichi had a funny feeling that the thief placed them their before the heist. "Well then, ready to go?"

Shinichi had looked at him confused, and then yelped as he scooped her up, bridal style.

"Put me down!" she shrieked. She gripped his shoulders, trying to find something to hold onto.

"You want to stay here?"

"Well, no but-"

"Then stop complaining." KID smirked, and then spotting the book on the bedside table, asked "Do you want your book?"

"Of course I want my book, but-" Shinichi was cut off again at said book was thrown into her lap. She glared at him, and then opened her mouth before KID could move. "What even makes you think I would just let someone take me with open arms, let alone a thief?!"

KID open his mouth for a retort, but was cut off as another bullet went flying by, this time knocking off his hat. "Oh come on!" he whined. "I liked that hat!"

"You .Are .Not .Taking .Her." Vermouth spoke in a low tone, and when KID turned around, he was met face to face with the barrow of a gun.

"Oh contraire, my dear lady." KID smirked.

Vermouth cocked the hammer back, and just as she pulled the trigger, KID jumped up. He landed on her head, and then jumped off with enough force to knock her to the ground.

"Maybe now we can leave." KID sounded genially flustered, but another bullet zoomed past his head at that exact moment. "Oh for fuck's sake!" He screeched.

"PUT SUBJECT 0 DOWN!"

"NO!" He rounded on Vermouth. "I will NOT put HER down!"

Vermouth looked stunned at the thief's outburst, and Shinichi could only blink as KID tightened his grip of her.

Was-was he having a tantrum…?

"Honestly, shouldn't you be more worried about the fucking gem!?" He then let out a loud groan. "And I thought Snake was trigger happy."

"…"

KID then spun on his heel, and leapt out of the window (with a mild shrike from Shinichi, of course).

A/N:

Wow…this ending is a lot crackier than I thought it would be…

As before, this is loosely based off of Disney's Tangled.

And Shinichi won't get her life story till a little later on.
