The young blond walked up to the huge mansion. She reached a finger out to the doorbell, pausing about an inch from it. The hot sun shone on her neck, making her sweat. Everything seemed so neat and tidy here, far different than she was. She gazed down at her gray t-shirt and shorts. They made her look as though she was homeless, which she was.
"Can I help you?" A voice asked. The girl jumped and whirled around to face a woman, realizing her finger was still hovering, she put it down hastily. The woman had long white hair, and seemed to be african american. Her eyes were kind, and she wore a pink dress.
"Y-yes," She stammered. "My name is Terra, and I want to join the institute." The woman's blue eyes, alot like Terra's own, lit up.
"Okay, well follow me. The professor has been waiting for you." Terra looked up, alarmed. How had they known she was coming? "Oh, forgive me," The woman said. "First of all, My name is Ororo. We found you using a device called Cerebro. We tried to find you, but you kept moving around." Ororo paused to open a door. "This is the Professor's office." She said, smiling.
Nervously, Terra stepped into the office. a kindly looking man sat at the desk. He was bald and had a green suit on. "Ah, hello there. You must be Terra. I'm Professor Xavier, founder of this school." Terra nodded, at a loss for words.
"Well, I'm sure you'll be comfortable here. Now I'll get a student to-," he was cut off when a student raced into the office, right through the wall. It was a young girl with a brown ponytail and blue eyes.
"Professor, is she here ye-," She stopped when she saw Terra. "Hey, You're here! I'm Kitty, a.k.a Shadowcat. You must be Terra."
"Yeah, I'm Terra," she muttered.
"Come on," Kitty giggled. "I'll show you to your room." Kitty grabbed Terra by the hand and they raced Through the wall. Terra's room was on the second floor, right near Kitty's. Another girl shared the room with Kitty whose name was Rogue. They bumped into her on the way up. "Hey Rogue. This is Terra." Kitty pointed to Terra, who gave a subconcieous giggle.
"Yeah, hi," she said, arms folded against her cheast. She spoke in a heavy southern accent. Her russet brown hair went to her chin, with white streaks going down the sides. "Listen, Ah gotta go. Logan's training starts in fifteen minutes." She eyed them both. "You'd better hurrry, your both in it to."
"Thats why we're hurrying," Kitty said, and they were off again, Only to bump into something coming infront of them with a -bamf!-. "Kurt!" Kitty cried. "Like, what did I say about popping up like that!? Anyway, this is Terra." She pointed at Terra.
"Hi," Terra and Kurt said at the same time. Terra's first reaction was to scream. After all, he was furry, had a tail and fangs, and his eyes were yellow. She could see something in his eyes though, something alomst sweet. Suddenly, she knew. She had a crush on him.
