"Maleficent!" The scream echoed across the Moors "Maleficent, where are you!"

Diaval was growing frantic, where was his mistress? He had heard her screaming his name with such panic in her voice, humans it must have been the humans. He had told Aurora that this peace would never last, not as long as Stephan supporters were still in the kingdom alive.

"Diaval, Diaval help me!" He started running as fast as these puny human legs could carry him, following her call. Suddenly without warning they stopped. That was worse than any scream, the silence foretold something awful, and Diaval ran faster. His legs screamed at him, his lungs were on fire, his body was begging him to stop, but how could he? His mistress, his one and only, was in danger. No, he could not stop.

Finally he reached the border of the Moors. Looking out at the plains he searched desperate for any signs of his Maleficent. When he saw her it broke his heart. She was lying face down in a pool of her blood, her once beautiful wings looked broken and dull, dust and blood matted her brunette hair. Diaval ran to her, despair clutching his chest, tearing it apart. He fell down beside her and took her into his arms. There he saw the worst thing imaginable. Stuck inside her heart was an iron stake, and yet despite all of the blood and dirt she still looked beautiful to him. She always had, ever since they first meet he thought she was more than beautiful. Though it did take time for him to fall in love, but when he did he was head over heels.

"Maleficent, please Maleficent open your eyes, please I'm begging you." He looked up at the sky, as if asking whoever was up there to save her. Hearing him Maleficents eyes slowly, ever so painfully, opened to look at him.

"Diaval." She managed though the effort of that one word seemed almost too great. He could see how much pain she was in and it torn him to shreds. He would kill whoever had done this.

"Don't speak, please Maleficent hold on, others are coming they can help you. All you have to do is hold on." Diaval said half instructing half pleading. He needed her to live, needed her to be there. He no longer knew what life was without his mistress.

"Diaval, you have to tell Aurora that I love her and always will, promise me." She seemed to grow weaker with each word. "Tell her to live a good long life, and to know that I will always be there though she may not think so, I will always protect her."

"Tell her yourself, your going to live… you have to live, I don't know what to do with out you." Diaval felt useless, was there nothing he could turn into that would save his love? He could think of nothing. Tears, already pouring from his eyes, seemed to get worse, she was the one thing he could not lose. Without her there was no point of his existence, he would be broken.

"You have to live my Pet, you have to be my wings and protect Aurora when I'm gone. You can't waste away, you have to be there for her when I cannot. Please Diaval live, for me."

"I can't mistress, I love you" A sob caught in his throat as he said those three oh so gigantic words.

"Oh Diaval, I Love…"

A howl of despair echoed across the kingdoms.
