The dark starry night and frequent rush of cold wind seemed to fit Scully's anxious mood. As she slammed her car door shut, she took a quick glance up at the shining stars and swallowed. She hugged herself for warmth. How could something so enlightening, so stunning be so far away? Light year, by light year. But for something that beautiful, that soothing, maybe all that time was worth the wait. She slowly shut her eyes, pondering the thought. Maybe I do love him. She could not let herself admit it, but the thought had always been there. Those very thoughts had been in the back of her mind being pushed away by other thoughts, shoved into the corner of her brain.

She slowly opened her eyes and began to walk toward the entrance of the FBI building. She was not sure what time it was, but it was sure getting late. That did not matter much to her. With the shimmering stars in the sky she felt more at ease. She still had the image of them in her mind. Small due to her distance from space, bright, bold and beautiful. The dark sky seemed to hold the stars close in a tight embrace. It soothed her mind.

Once she had approached Mulder's office, she knocked on the door lightly. She knew he must have been working. He was always working. Getting impatient by the second, she pushed open the door, not caring what he had been doing inside.

"Scully," His hazel eyes bolted toward her. His eyes were so enlightening, so stunning. "What's wrong?"

Maybe he could tell by the anxious look on her face that something was wrong. But was something wrong? She just felt the need to see him. Something in her mind, something in her heart was telling her to. But what? The words could not seem to roll off her tongue, to drift out of her mouth.

She wasn't like him. She was different. She had such a distance from his beliefs in extraterrestrials. Her science had made her a skeptic, hadn't it? His beliefs were so bold and bright. So... out there. But he seemed to hold onto his beliefs. His stubbornness clutched onto them. He was a believer.

"I-uh. Needed to pick up something." Scully lied. She was not going to admit her feelings for him.

Maybe time would be worth the wait.
