Team 7 Forever

The remaining Team 7, Sakura, Kakashi, and Sai, were silent as they ran along the borders of Ame towards the Akatsuki's old base. Their mission: ensure Akatsuki never came back.

In unison, the three man team split down the middle, Sakura and Sai together with Kakashi on his own. They went east and west.

"Keep vigilant," Kakashi whispered into the radio, "Who knows what traps they set around here."

"Sir," they replied in unison.

Sakura's eyes moved everywhere, looking at everything thrice when she noticed something near Sai. Her eyes widened.

"Sai!" she warned, running over. "Your foot!"

Sai moved but it wasn't fast enough. Sakura acted and pushed him out of the way. Instantly, a seal glowed and activated and then Sakura saw smoke, then black.

Sakura mumbled and groaned as she woke up, rubbing her head. With haste, Sakura was on guard and looking around her. She was in a cell of some sort; likely where trespassers ended up by the seals on the walls. Sakura quietly stood up and went to the door. Luckily the suppressor seals were weakened, she thought, easily breaking the lock.

Sakura frowned, looking at the familiar yet unfamiliar walls and hallway.

"Great," Sakura sighed, "Now what?"

"Hey Sakura-chan!"

Sakura jerked, turning around as her eyes widened. That voice-!

Sakura froze. There was nothing there but Sakura swore-.

Throwing caution in the wind, Sakura ran in the direction of the voice. Sakura ran until she came to a fork in the halls. She happened to look to her left and saw an orange figure walk to the left at the end of the hall. Sakura took after it.

"Naruto!" she shouted, following.

Sakura followed the orange and mysterious laughter until she came to a hall of doors. She was tired and now alone. Sakura heard movement and looked in time to see a door close. Silently, Sakura walked to it and entered, Sakura paused.

Somehow, she was in another hallway or doors; Sakura walked in when she saw a pale grey-purple at the end of the hall. She tried to focus her chakra into her eyes to see it better but it was already gone and moving to the right.

"Hn. Sakura."

Sakura gasped, running. "Sasuke!" she shouted.

Sakura went to the right and out a door. White flashed… Voices…

"-kura… Sakura!"

Sai…?

Sakura's eyes slowly opened. She saw Sai's concerned face as well as Kakashi's.

"Sai…? What happened?" she whispered tiredly.

Sai frowned. "You saved my life," he said simply.

Sakura frowned in confusion. "What?" she asked.

Kakashi frowned as well. "You don't remember?"

Sakura shook her head. "No, I'd been caught in the trap and transported inside, then I- Sasuke! Naruto!" she suddenly shouted. "I saw them inside! They were there!"

The two men shared a worried expression.

"Sakura," Sai said gently. "Naruto and Sasuke have been dead for seven years now. Remember? During the war with Akatsuki?"

Sakura denied it. "No! I saw them! They-," Sakura froze, looking over Kakashi's shoulder.

Between two trees were two transparent figures; both in rags and bloody and bloody in the torso. Sasuke Uchiha gave a smirk and two fingered salute while Naruto Uzumaki-Namikaze gave a smile and an enthusiastic wave. In a flash, they were gone.

'Team 7 forever.'

Sakura gave a smile. 'Team 7 always.'
