"You know I love you, Donna."
Her slightly intoxicated brain couldn't believe Harvey had spoken those words. Harvey Specter, best closer in the world, simply did not say something like that. She knew he cared, he showed her that in a thousand little ways, but she had never imagined him saying those three little precious words. Especially after their decision to not bevome involved.
Yet, in such a typical way for him he hadn't given her a chance to react, instead he had simply fled, like he so often did when emotions were involved. All of a sudden, she felt rage rise from deep within her. With a few quick steps she was at her door and opened it.
"Harvey Specter, come back here at once!"
Her voice thundered through the corridor, probably loud enough to wake the neighbors. For once, she didn't give a damn about it. This time, she wouldn't let him get away with running and hiding.
He was almost out of sight and for a brief moment he considered bolting. Having to face her now, after what had happened and what he had confessed… He turned. Bolting would have meant to face her tomorrow and her anger would not have subsided by then, it would have increased even. Slowly he walked back into her apartment, letting her shut the door hard behind him. He kept his back to her, not daring to look at her. Only she could do that to him.
Donna would no have that though. She grabbed him by his shoulders and yanked him around so he had to face her. He refused to meet her eyes, kept them fixed on a spot at the wall. Her fingers dug hard enough in his shoulder blades that it would hurt later. Right then it simply felt as though they were burning him, fuelling his desire for her. She was the only woman who had that effect on him, that was why he was careful to never (or at least rarely) touch her.
"What was that?" She demanded angrily.
"What was what?"
As soon as those words had left his mouth he knew he'd made a mistake.
"Don't you dare deflect me! You know exactly what I mean! Confessing you love me and then running without giving me a chance to say something? Damn, Harvey, stop trying to outrun your feelings! That's not happening, not even you can do that! And don't give me some bullshit about how that wasn't why you left!"
Harvey swallowed hard. He wanted to deny all of that, ripping it to shreds like he regularly did with testimonies and witness statements, but found he couldn't. She knew him well enough to have seen that truth, there was no way around that.
Donna felt him go rigid under her hands and for a moment she almost pitied him. Only because she knew in the end it was for his own she pressed further. He couldn't go on pretending he felt nothing and keeping everything inside.
"Well?"
"What do you want me to say? What do you want from me? You know me, it would never work out and I cannot loose you! I won't risk that! I'd rather stay friends than not have you in my life at all! I could not bear that! You are far too important and I need you far too much."
Her anger subsided.
"Why are you so convinced it would fail? Because all your other relationships failed? Have you considered that I exactly know what I would be getting into? Exactly how much you work and how you can be sometimes? Harvey, I already know your best and your worst, just like you do for me. I am not going to promise you that a relationship would not fail, I cannot know that. What I do know though is this: Some things are worth taking a risk. And I am ready to do just that, we've danced around each other long enough."
She could see the walls around him crumbling. Finally he allowed her to catch his gaze.
"I love you, too, Harvey."
She let go of his shoulders at last, convinced he wouldn't run again. With one hand she lightly caressed his cheek, the other coming to rest on his upper arm. Their eye contact never waivered while she waited for his reaction.
"Donna…"
A sound between a moan and a sigh escaped his lips, then his hands were on her hips, roughly pulling her flush against him. He kissed her deeply, plundering her mouth until she was absolutely breathless. She felt him hard against her and started rubbing herself against him, offering herself to him.
"Take me, Harvey. Take me now and love me like there's no tomorrow."
For a second he was reminded that there almost wouldn't have been, that she'd almost gone to prison because of something she'd done for him. He kissed her again desperately, urgently before he scooped her up and threw her on the couch, covering her body with his. Clothes went flying quickly, the need to be close, to touch, to taste, to simply feel the other almost unbearable. He entered her roughly and she welcomed it, even demanded and reveled in it, matching thrust by thrust. It wasn't long until climax hit them both hard. Gasping and panting she collapsed on top of him, her head coming to rest directly above his racing heart. She closed her eyes and sighed contently when his arms closed tightly around her waist holding her in place.
Much later when she tried to move again, she was stopped by hands exploring every inch of her skin they could reach. Her fingers, her hands, her arms, her neck, breasts, belly, upper legs… She shivered in anticipation and moaned helplessly when this time Harvey showed her how tender and caring he could really be. He was amazing by how easily and readily she responded to his caresses and took his time to find out where she loved to be touched most. Just when she came undone, he whispered in her ear:
"I love you, Donna. You're the one for me. It scares me to death, but I'm done wasting my time."
