5-21-09 (day after the final battle)

She walked away crying, her heart breaking of the pain she had caused herself.

Dear Ronald,
I'm sorry for the time lapse, but I really need to talk to you. Please meet me at the Leaky Cauldron at 4. I have someone I want you to meet.

She turned to the male sitting next to her and kissed his cheek, saying she couldn't believe he was in her life.
At 4 o'clock, Hermione sat waiting for Ron. She waited for 30 minutes, until she received a letter saying that he couldn't meet her or her new "man". He still wasn't over her enough to see her with anyone else.

Ronald,
I cannot believe you just assumed that I would have a new "man" after everything we have gone through together. I know it sounded bad, but you really need to meet Fred. I am begging you to meet me at the Leaky Cauldron at 5. I am hoping to see you soon.

Ron walked through the door at 4:55, and waited for Hermione. When she walked through the door a 5:03 with a baby, he nearly passed out. The baby had red hair and green eyes. He motioned to her and she walked over to him. When she reached him, first thing out of his mouth was "Is it mine?". "No, it's not." she replied. He turned red and demanded to know the whole story of whose baby it was and why it looked like him. So after calming him down, she went into detail:
"the night before the final battle, I ran into a friend who was scared he wouldn't be able to leave a legacy in this world. He went on and on about it, until I agreed to carry his child. We didn't have intercourse, but instead went to Nurse Pomfrey, who agreed to impregnate me artificially. It was a success and we said our goodbyes. The next day, he was killed in the battle. I was scared and ran away the next day, thinking everyone would think that I cheated on you. I'm sorry, but I had to leave."
Ron sat there for a while thinking about what she had said, and then a light bulb went off, "Is it Fred's?" "Yes, I couldn't tell him no." He sat there again and then grabbed her hand and disapperated to the Burrow, where he knew Molly would be. He pulled her inside and told his mom Hermione's story, where she cried, hugged, and thanked Hermione for carrying on Fred's legacy. The whole family soon came and everyone could not believe that Fred left a part of himself in the world where he was thought dead. They were able to move on and Ron eventually married Hermione and adopted Fred jr., and brought him up as his own son.
