Sometimes, I wonder what she looked like.
He doesn't speak much, especially about personal matter. So I can only guess, from what he told to that Marine officer we met in Loguetown, Tashigi.
I keep picturing a teenager, although she must have been just a kid when she died. Black hair, dark eyes. Not really pretty, looking rather self-conscious, and holding a sword. They say a woman is nothing without the appropriate accessory ; it has never been so true.
I know it upsets him when I'm being nice with women. He keeps telling me that I'm ridiculous, and that I will never get anything from them. Well, he has no idea how it upsets me when he mentions that promise, this fucking promise he did to her. She's dead, but somehow she's still here, wandering at the back of his mind, reminding him of the goal he must reach. She's dead, but it would be easier if she were still alive.
I may be proud when it comes to women, but honestly, I never found it hard to make them forget they were already engaged. You can always make fun of a rival, and the more he fights, the stupidest he looks. But is there anything you can do against a memory ? Especially a treasured one, the one you've hold on to your whole life ?
Sometimes I wish she never existed.
