This is the sequel to the story of love and chocolate, 2 Inches of Pure Chocolate Beauty I wrote with my friend JimmyTheJacket. If you like the following story, please check my friend out, she writes awesome Divergent stuff... The character Martine is from her story Cognition.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy the story and feel free to leave me a review down below :)
I lost track of time.I lost myself in the taste. There was only half of Woxanne left on the silver plate. Our time was running out. And just as I realized that, the door slammed open behind me. I turned around and realized I have chocolate all over my pretty face.
'HOW COULD YOU DO THIS TO ME?!' exclaimed Martine , my co-worker. Her eyes shifted from me to the Dauntless cake.
'Jimmy! I thought we were destined for each other!' she shouted with her deep scratchy voice. I mean, it was as deep as feminine voices go.
'What the hell are you talking about? This is Woxanne!' I objected. Then I realized , she had tears in her eyes. She wasn't just angry or furious. She was hurt.
'do you realize what you've just done? Have you any idea that, just yesterday, we've officially ran out of the key ingredient for the Dauntless cake?!'
Her words stabbed my heart like a kitchen knife we use to cut cake. Silence took over. I could only hear our breaths for a moment.
'At least let me have a slice,' she said calmer than I expected. She looked so sad… But I didn't fall for it.
'Never!' I said firmly.
'You will give me a slice or I WILL kill you! I hope you won't make me do that, because we both know we lost too much already,'' she said in warning voice. Now I was getting furious. 'If I can't have the cake, NO ONE CAN!' I took a step closer to Woxanne protectively. She moved towards it rapidly, but she wasn't quick enough. Woxanne was already in my arms as I was running out of the cafeteria, towards the chasm. I hoped Martine wouldn't follow me there, but my hope died when I heard someone running. I turned around, which was a bad move-the next thing I knew, pain rushed through my stomach and I let go of Woxanne. She fell into the chasm. Martine's 'NOOOOOOOOOOO!' ripped through the air. I couldn't say anything. I couldn't even breathe. What have I just done? Martine and I stood there in silence, both of us in our own thoughts. Our love for Woxanne…or Jimmy, for some people, was so strong it killed her. And from that moment on nobody ever spoke of the famous Dauntless cake again.
