A first time for everything.
"Come on Ron," Kim said, "lets do this."
Ron was still doubtful, "I don't know KP, do you really think we should do this? I mean, your dad still isn't too happy about you doing this."
"Of course we should do this. Come on, it will be fun." Kim smiled, "and besides, dad is just being overprotective."
"It will never fit," Ron tried, "the opening is too small."
"Don't be silly," Kim was getting irritated, "there is plenty of room."
"Look, I don't want to do this," Ron told, "you can always do it alone, you have fun then."
"Yeah," Kim grinned, "but it will be much more fun doing it with you."
"But what about the risks?"
"Give it a rest, it's completely save," Kim held a small book in front of Ron, "would you like me to explain to you how it all work again?"
"No, no," Ron shook his head, "I know how it works, you explained it to me enough times. And sure, according to the book this should be completely save."
"What's your problem then?"
"It's just… I mean, that material is so thin, what if it breaks?"
"It won't break," Kim sighed, "this stuff can take some real pounding, you know."
"Alright then," Ron gave up, "you're the expert in this, lets do it."
"Thanks Ron," Kim smiled, "once you start doing this, you'll find how much fun it is. And I promise I'll be gentle since it's your first time," she added with a grin.
"Ha ha," Ron chuckled nervously, "just don't wait too long before you pull."
"Alright, but you have to promise you won't scream too loud."
They got into position.
"Ready?"
"No, but let's do this before I lose all my nerve again."
And they jumped, it was Ron's first time parachuting and he didn't like it one bit. But he put on a brave face for his best friend who was strapped behind him.
Kim had done multiple jumps already and she had showed a lot of skill, so the instructors had agreed that Kim could take Ron on a tandem jump.
As they jumped out of the Cessna plane, Kim had to admit that Ron was right about the door of the plane being a little on the small side to jump through together. but they managed, and as promised Kim did not wait too long before pulling the cord and tried his best to muffle his screams of terror.
"See," Kim said after they had landed, "that wasn't so bad, right?"
"Yeah, it could have been a lot worse," Ron agreed reluctantly.
"Cool, now we can start looking ahead at your first solo jump."
"Heh heh, you're joking, right? Right? Please tell me you're joking."
