Harry walked past everyone in the Great Hall, only stopping to glance at the masses of dead bodies he could see through the doorway. He would get up the courage to go in there later, and see who had been killed. But now he slowly made his way up to the Gryffindor common room. He wanted to be somewhere familiar; somewhere he might get some peace and quiet.
There was only one person in the common room. She was standing by the window, her long red hair falling over her face. He could see her shoulders shaking. Slowly he went over, and put his arms around her. She turned around to look up at his face. It was the second time Harry had seen Ginny cry, and it broke his heart a little bit. She buried her face in his chest, and he wrapped his arms around her tighter, like he was trying to hold her together.
'I thought you were downstairs.' He murmured into her sweet smelling hair.
'I was, but I didn't want them to see me like this, I have to stay strong for mum, but... it just got too much, I had to escape.'
'I understand' she lifted her face, and kissed him lightly.
'Thank you.' Ginny whispered.
'For what?'
'Just for being here, when I needed you most.'
'I always will be.' He kissed her, then broke it and whispered. 'Always.'
