No Wonder

Hello everyone! I actually started this about 3 or 4 months ago, I think. But, today I was bored and didn't know which piece of writing I wanted to work on so I just chose randomly and I picked this one! I hope you guys like it. The story line that I wrote when I started this story kinda reminded me of the Barbra Streisand song "No Wonder." Hence, the reason that is the title! :D

"No wonder he loves her, no wonder at all."

No Wonder

Prologue

"Ned, Ned, Ned... how do I love thee? Let me count the ways!" Olive Snook skipped to The Pie Hole one morning, with lovable Digby by her side. Nothing could ruin her good mood! She had had the best dream that night, about Ned, of coarse, and it set the mood of the day for her. She skipped and danced in the street, singing Birdhouse in Your Soul. "Make a little Birdhouse in your soul!" she sang.

"Olive!" a mysterious voice called from behind her. She stopped and turned, looking around the empty streets.

"Hello?" Olive began to walk toward the voice, "Is someone there?"

"Olive!" the voice called again.

"Hello?" Olive walked with Digby into the dark alley. Suddenly, she was attacked from behind. She didn't have time to yell as she was pushed to the ground. Olive let go of Digby's leash and he darted off in the familiar direction of the Pie Hole in hopes to get help. Olive was pinned to the ground and the man dressed in black with one eye patch quickly grabbed a plastic bag out from his back pants pocket and covered her face. She tried to breath, but couldn't. She could feel her body slowly shutting down as she gasped for air. Help! She thought loudly. It didn't matter. Nothing was going to save her now. Goodbye fresh pie. She thought. Goodbye mornings where the air smells like fresh rain. Goodbye friends. Goodbye Digby. Goodbye Ned, my love. Goodbye life.

(:)

Digby ran as fast as he could. He had to get to the Pie Hole to get help. He ran as cars swerved around him. Finally getting to the Pie Hole, he clawed at the door until he opened it, running to the back where Ned with peacefully preparing pies as Chuck took finished ones out of the oven. Digby barked and barked hoping to get the attention of one of them. It was as if they couldn't hear him as Ned held up a sheet of plastic wrap between them and he and Chuck kissed. Digby kept barking. He had to get their attention at some point.

"Digby, quiet." Ned instructed.

If only they had listened. If they had, they might have saved her. If only Ned had listened. But, now she was gone.
