Disclaimer: The staff members at PIXAR Studios are animation gods. I do not wish to anger them by trying to sell this for profit. I don't even want to do that in the first place. This was written for pure pleasure.

Other tidbits: I love Up from beginning to end. I thought this would be cute to write. My Flame Policy (as seen on my profile) applies to this.

Six months past Russell's Paradise Falls adventure. His sudden trip changed his life positively. He acquired a father figure in Carl Fredricksen and a furry friend in Dug the Dog. He now lived in life's sunny side; his life rarely turned drab.

That did not mean a burning question raged in his mind. When Russell researched for this Founding Fathers badge, he discovered the colonial politician's estates. The grand plantations, especially late presidents's, symbolized lavish wealth and success.

Monticello's name was epic. It embodied Thomas Jefferson's accomplishments, his legacy, American history, and the house itself. Why, Monticello even appeared on money! George Washington's Mount Vernon lacked that monetary triumph. By those standards, the name Ellie for a house was… weird. The name seemed appropriate for a car or a lake monster. Mister Fredricksen had to have a reason for this.

Russell currently sat shotgun in the old man's rusty, little car. Both were silent on their movie theater trek.

Carl spoke first. "Did a cat get your tongue, Russell? It's not like you to seal your lips like this!"

"Uh, no cats got my tongue, Mister Fredricksen."

"Then why are you so quiet today?"

Russell took a deep breath. If he was not behind the wheel, Carl would have turned his head towards the boy.

"Uh… Mister Fredricksen… I have a question…"

"What is it, Russell?"

I can't believe I'm about to ask this… He gulped. "Why did you name your old house Ellie?"

Carl slammed on the brake. "Say that again?"

"You would talk to the house and call it Ellie. Why Ellie?"

Carl's head cocked downward. Car horns blared non-stop behind them. Russell heard someone yelling.

"Mister Fredricksen? Are you okay?"

The senior did not face the scout. "One day you'll find the perfect girl—maybe now, maybe later. Either way, she will become the center of your world. Only then will you understand."
