The night was pitch black, the moon hidden by the threatening dark clouds covering New York Citys sky. Somewhere in the 1830 W Main Street, sirens coming from police cars rumbled calling the attention of the neighborhood.

At least four vehicles stayed with the engine running a few yards from the crime scene, where Dr. Lanie Parish was to determine the exact cause of death of the young man lying in the middle of the road, surrounded by a pool of blood.

Beckett - Hey Lanie!

Lanie - Here you are girl! So we've got a young male on his early thirties, maybe late twenties, probably thrown through one of those windows.- She said pointing at a nearby building with at least 15 floors.- Two shots on the back, one in the temple, large caliber. Has no wallet or ID that could identify him.

Beckett - Time of death?

Lanie - Based on temperature and lividity, I would say he died about five or six hours ago.

The ME looked up to her friend and shrugged. She couldnt do too much out of the lab, and most of her part was over.

Beckett - He's naked. If he fall from a window from this building, our crime scene's up there, somewhere.

Castle - Well, hes actually wearing boxers.

Detective Beckett rolled her eyeballsand turned over to Lanie.

Beckett - Did the fall kill him? Or were the shots?

Lanie - Dont know yet, baby. Ill see when I get him to the lab. The only thing I can tell you now, is that the heads shot, the one in the temple, he got it AFTER the fall.

Castle - Like those professional killers in old fashioned movies? Thats pretty cool.

Beckett - Its like whoever did it didnt want to stand a chance of him surviving.- She said completely ignoring his comment.- So.- She met Castles eyes and pointed to the buildings door with her chin.- You coming?

He seemed distracted. He looked randomly to the corpse Lanie was starting to get in the van and to the upper windows just over their heads, then again to the young mans body.

Beckett - Castle!

Castle - Uhm. He looks somehow familiar.

Beckett - Who, the guy? You knew him?

Castle - No, no. Its just I had to have seen him somewhere before. I know some people from this neighborhood, you know rich, party guys.

Beckett took a deep breath to answer, but the uproar made within the limits of the police cordon cut her off before she started.

A metallic black colored Corvette skidded a few meters from the police cars, leaving in the air around with a strong smell of burned tires. A small, short, brunette woman emerged from the driver's door, dressed in a long black gown as dark as the night itself. She ran straight to the cops standing out of the crime line, looking all worried and stressed, and tried to cross the yellow belt keeping the crowd away.

Esposito - Im sorry, M'am, but you cannot go in there. Theres a murder scene over there.

Lyllian - What? No! I live there. I need to get to my house!

Esposito - Im afraid I cant let you come in, M'am. Crime scene, you'll need to wait till we're finished.

The little girl looked all the more stressed, and tried to get a glimpse of what was going on behind the police cars, her eyes opened wide when she caught the glimpse of the body carefully placed on the table ready to be moved to the lab.

Lyllian - Let me in!- She screamed, pushing towards.

Detective Beckett walked from behind, Castle just a few steps afar.

Beckett - HEY! Whats the matter here?

Ryan - This lady here wants to go home. We were just explaining her why she needs to wait for the CSU to finish.

Castle - Lilly? Lilly Collins? - He stared at the woman in disbelief.- What are you doing here?

Lyllian - My HOUSE is here.- She answered before looking up to him, pretty upset. Then it hit her.- Rick? Rick Castle?

Beckett - You know her? - She wrinkled her nose, turning around to face the writer.

Castle stepped back a few inches and looked around for the van where the corpse had just been storaged.

Castle - No wonder he looked familiar. Hes her boyfriend!

Lyllian - What? Erick? Wait! Let me in! Let me see him.

Beckett - Miss Collins, youll be able to identify him at the morgue. At this moment were cleaning the crime scene...

Lyllian - No! - She interrupted the detectives sentence - You dont understand, theyre twins!

Castle - Twins? Your boyfriend has a twin? - The girl nodded.

Beckett - You didnt know? - Castle shook his head.

Lyllian - Can I just please see if its my boyfriend that has been killed? I can help identify him.

Castle - She has a point

Beckett - Oh, shut up Castle.

Looking startled, the detective signaled her team to let the little girl pass by and led her to the ME van. Lanie was finishing the last few arrangements to return to the lab.

Beckett - Hey Lanie! - She called from outside - I may have someone to identify the corpse for us...

Lanie peered out of the vans back, looking curious. She took a quick glance at the woman dressed in black, waiting patiently for them to let her in.

Castle - Shes here to tell us if its her boyfriend in that bag or his twin.

Lanie - Can you tell them apart? Any birth mark?

Lyllian - They were identical twins. No birth mark to tell them apart.

Beckett - Then, how can you?

Lyllian wrung her gowns diaphanous sleeves, trying to make her hands stop shaking, standing on her tiptoes for a second and backing away the next.

Lyllian - Adam tried to trick me more than once. I learned how to tell them apart. Details, you know, behavior...things like that.

Castle - Trick you?

Lyllian - C'mon, Rick...

Castle - No, I mean, I get it, Its just... awkward.

Lyllian - Yeah, I suppose it is.- She tried to giggle, but the anguish kept her from it.

Beckett got into the back of the van and knelt down beside the stretcher, inviting the girl to come in after her. Lanie opened the body bag enough for her to see the vics face and neck. Lyllian took a deep breath and raised her right hand all the way up to her mouth.

Lyllian - Its Adam. - She mumbled under her breath, her face pale.

Beckett - You sure?

Lyllian nodded. Castle helped her down the back of the truck, concerned.

Lyllian - You mind if... Detective? - She waved her phone. - I should let him know.

Beckett - Beckett. Detective Kate Beckett.

Lyllian - Shall I phone my boyfriend then, detective Beckett?

Beckett - You go

Lyllian - Thanks - She smiled and walked away while dialing a number in her phone.

Beckett glanced at her partner as the girl walked away talking on the phone. Her eyebrow rose a little, only enough for Castle to notice her curiosity. He sighed heavily.

Castle - Shes a writer. I met her on a charity event three or four years ago.- He answered to the unspoken question, rolling his eyes.

Beckett - I didnt ask.

Castle - Not too loud.- She tried to hide the tiny smile spreading across her face.

Beckett - So, now youre up to kids Castle?

Castle - Why do you care about that? Maybe you are... jealous?

Beckett - Jealous? C'mon Castle, shes barely 20.

Castle - As I was saying, fantasy writer. First best seller, she was...kind of joining the crew.

Beckett - Oh. So YOU are jealous.

Castle - I said fantasy writer, not mistery writer.

The detective chukcled, looking at him from the edge of the eye.

Lyllian - Whos jealous?

Castle & Beckett - No one - They both answered at the same time.

Lyllian - Ok... - She said with a small grin - So, I just talked with Erick, and he told me he had given his bro a copy of the loft keys, and I thought you may want me to show where it is?

Beckett - He was at your place? - The little girl nodded and handed her the keys. - Well, thanks I guess? Where do you live?

Lyllian - Right there. Eleventh floor. Ill take you both.

Becket signaled her team to follow. The two detectives were there in a heartbeat, and Lyllian guided them through the street to the building just in front of the pool of blood where the corpse had been lying. The elevator had the radio on, and a melodic scorpions ballade sounded slowly on the speaker.

Lyllian - You know she likes you, dont ya? - She asked Castle under her breath, so no one else could hear her.

Castle - Who? Beckett? No, she does not. Trust me, she.. No. - He answered as low as her.

Lyllian - Oh, so you like her too? - The writer hissed nervously - Ops, Sorry.

Beckett - What're you guys talking about?

Lyllian - Nothing! - She replied quickly, and the elevator stopped.

She sighed in relief. Beckett gave them a suspicious look, absolutly not buying it.

Castle - It really was nothing, we were just discussing.

Beckett - Discussing what?

Castle - Well, since her place is likely to become our murder scene, I was just offering She and Erick could spend the night in the loft. Weve got empty rooms in there.

Beckett - Oh, really? - She frowned.

Lyllian - You were? - She straightened.- Oh, yeah, sure. But, you know, Erick would be more comfortable if we just stay in a flat he own over the East river.

Castle - Yeah, sure. Just wanted you to know.

Lyllian - Thanks anyway, Rick. That was sweet.

Beckett - Yeah...that was so sweet...Rick - She finished with irony sparkling in her eyes.

Castle wrinkled his nose pretending to be upset while Esposito and Ryan tried to shifter their laughter.
