What the future holds
I don't own Naruto or its characters.
"Ever wonder what the future holds for us?" Temari asked the man who always found himself lying on the grass.
"I try not to," he answered.
"So when you do," Temari began. "What do you think about?"
"I guess I think about where I'll be, who I'll be with. Things like what I'd be doing and the like."
She gazed at the sky. "In the end, nothing is really the way you can see." She turned her head to him. "By that I mean the future, not some game of chess or anything like that."
He smirked. "You're right." He sat up and pulled a few blades of grass from the ground. "The future is like the wind I guess." He released the blades of grass and watched it fly away from him.
"Even though you know it's coming, and at times you may even know where it comes from and goes to, you can't always predict everything about it. You don't know about every change of direction it will take, about everything it will blow our way, or blow away. All you can do is let it come, let this wind give us what it does, and take with it what it does.
Temari smirked. "Since when did you become the deep thinking type?"
He rolled his eyes. "Just something I thought of on the spot. What I'm trying to say is, if you wait for too long, you may miss out on an opportunity." "
"An opportunity like?" She asked casually.
"Like this."
He leaned forward and kissed her on the lips.
She was wide eyed for only a second, before smiling and kissing him back.
She pulled back and and smiled again. "You know, you didn't answer my question."
Shikamaru raised an eyebrow. "I didn't?"
She nodded slightly. "You never told me what you thought the future holds for us. You just said what you're thoughts were about."
"In that case," Shikamaru said. "Do you know what I think the future holds for me?"
"What?"
"It holds something great. Especially as I know that future is with you."
End.
