Alison saw Beth turning the corner arms full of flowers, so many flower overflowing of all different colors and sizes and shapes. Beth walked toward her saying,

"I thought you deserved something nice for our anniversary but i couldn't choose which flower so i got them all."

At this point Alison was freaking out Anniversary? she thought how didn't I know….? hold on it isn't for another three weeks? Beth was grinning at her, knowing Alison was completely unsure of what was happening. Beth gave her a quick kiss and said,

"I know it isn't for another three weeks but I couldn't wait"

Alison was floored, no one had ever been this kind to her not even Donnie. She still didn't know why she would do such a thing for her but she couldn't help but take the huge bouquet into her arm and sniff the glorious flowers.

Beth couldn't stop herself from smiling Alison was just too cute when she was surprised and for some reason she was glowing maybe it was just the love she felt for her that messed with her vision. Either way she led the beautiful Alison over the picnic bench and started unpacking what Alison had cooked up for them.

Alison still in awe of her great love started to list the dishes she brought for them,

"I made three types of sandwiches, there is also a bottle of wine in there and a slice of pie for each of us but we should eat the other thing first and there is of course a salad"

Beth couldn't help but feel guilty, she loved Alison and couldn't stand the thought of being without her and she knew after today she'd probably never see her again. That was the real reason for the flowers, they were guilt flowers; Beth's way of apologizing for the months to come. Months that Alison would have to deal with what she would think was her suicide, Beth wanted more then anything to let Alison know she was faking it. 'But if Alison Hendrix knows than what is the point' Dr Leaky had said.

Alison finished listing the sandwich types and smiled at Beth who she knew hadn't listened to any of it. The two of them dug in and Alison started talking about her kids,

"Gemma hasn't been interested in art much this last year but maybe this new art class will be a nice thing for her…"

They had spent most of the afternoon just lying next to each other on the grass in the big open field, the remnants of their food left behind on the picnic table. As the sun started to go lower they sat up and Beth took Alison's hand, pushed the little strand of hair that always seemed to be there out of her face and kissed Alison. The day had been crisp but as the evening started to draw on it became cooler the kiss seem to warm them both against the darkening sky. Beth pulled Alison closer and she felt as though she were part of the pale blue sky. Then they pulled away, Beth was on the verge of tears and tried desperately to hide it, but Alison held felt it the moment they had kissed, something in the intensity with which Beth had kissed her and she had known that something was upsetting Beth. When Beth looked up Alison knew and took Beth in her arms and held her there for a moment.

Then they silently packed up the blanket and the the food on the table and left. It wasn't until Sarah would come to her house and tell her about Beth's suicide when Alison would realize why Beth had brought her those beautiful flowers. And it wasn't until then when Alison would want to burn them.
