Crime Of Innocence

Crime Of Innocence

By SMYGO4EVA

The innocent and the pure souls of the human world cannot become so pure in the Soul Society. Once they die, they can become something they wouldn't recognize. Those who have been subject to Hell and its many forms can never reverse to why they were beforehand. Tōshirō Hitsugaya and Momo Hinamori are no exception.

The innocent-looking girl was believed to be another Soul Reaper, just another prideless and naïve bloodtraitor to the balance of life and death. She seemed innocent and naïve at the 5th Squad of Seireitei even at the age of a teenager. Momo, in fact, had been anything but naïve ever since the 'death' of her captain Sōsuke Aizen, and when he attempted to kill her. Everyone around her was too busy with the supposed ryoka to care for her safety, everyone except Hitsugaya.

Imagine his surprise when Momo was afflicted and tormented again and again while he himself came too late for the girl. He didn't see the betrayal coming, as the bloodshed and expotential injury slapped him across the face. The 10th squad captain realized that Momo's soul was tainted by the very influence of Aizen's absence – and when darkness such as that enters the soul, it will never leave. No matter how pure the soul was before, it would never return to its original state.

Hitsugaya's soul has too been influenced by darkness – as far as he knew, he would do battle with anyone who sttod in his way or attempted to take Momo's life, and his rage would consume him. It was almost as if he was born under a cursed star; in fact, everyone in the Soul Society had to be, for certain. Few of the souls bare such darkness within them, and few would let terrible things happen to others for the sake of the Seireitei.

She was his downfall, the one whom she developed a bond with. Alas, their feelings were unrealized and every drop of ruby blood was for one or the other. They had given unto their fate for simply being there, for being born, and for existing. Tōshirō Hitsugaya and Momo Hinamori were good people and had the best intentions, but their only crime was simply being in existence.

Chaos has been seen, whipped and tormented, and the salvation of a chosen few would have died soon after they had sat in their cell. Momo, the supposedly innocent girl, and Hitsugaya, the incensed captain, were now in a place that made Heaven and Hell purgatory.

Crimes are committed by those whom we see as evil, but the crime of innocence has a price in return, especially from those from whom you would at least expect it.
