The sun was glowing brilliantly in the sky, as a sparrow sped across into the clouds that were gathering lazily on the Amestris skyline. She sat on her seat as her car rushed towards Central, taking her to her destination. Her blonde hair blew about in the wind from the open window. She'd worn it loose today. Just how he liked it.
The silence enveloped her, sat like a heavy weight in the pit of her stomach, and she began nibbling on the skin of her finger. It was something to do, and she willed her car to travel faster. Or was it slower? She wasn't sure anymore.
The ring glinted in the sunlight, the ring she wore on the finger she was currently examining with her teeth. It wasn't a particularly flamboyant ring – just a small silver band with a tiny diamond set in it, one that wouldn't turn many heads – but it seemed to her as though the sun itself shone inside. She squinted slightly as the real sunlight glanced off the ring and hit her in the eye. She shifted her hands on the steering wheel, adjusting them so the ring was out of the sunlight. Sighing, she opened the glove box to take out the tiny note with two words printed carefully on it. Smiling slightly, she replaced the paper.
The car stalled as she was closing the glove box.
The force of it threw her forward in her seat, her seatbelt knocking what breath was left after the shock right out of her. Cursing and panting, she leant back in her seat, catching her breath again. It was lucky there was nobody else on the road. She began the lengthy process of starting the grumpy engine again, restraining her foot as it leant heavily on the accelerator. She wanted to get there, but not if it meant the car stalling like that again.
As she pulled up to headquarters, she spotted him waiting on the steps. His black hair was unusually flat, falling in front of his eyes, and he kept pushing it back out again. It was clear he didn't want to miss her. She couldn't blame him.
Opening the glovebox, she took out the notelet and held it carefully in her right hand. She opened the car door, and it swung open with a clunk, immediately capturing his attention.
Stepping cautiously out, she walked slowly and carefully over to where he was standing. She stopped a few metres away from him. His face was expressionless, but she looked straight into his eyes and saw the desperation in them. His body seemed to ache with longing. It was funny how she could tell these things just from his standing upright.
Taking a few steps towards him, she carefully raised her left hand. She wiggled her fingers gradually, and he saw the glint from the sun. He looked up, shocked, as she waved the note in her other hand in his line of vision.
Of course she would.
A/N - Okay, I have not been the best of authors on this site. As in it's been months since I uploaded anything. So here you are. Have some fluffy Royai. Yes, that is Riza and Roy in this fanfic. Honest.
