My second fic. Based off the song Talking to the Moon by Bruno Mars.
Disclaimer: I wish, but no, I don't own any of this \/ (except for the idea and words)
Iggy stared out the window from the 'E' shaped house at the night sky. The moon was full and caused everything to become a white-silvery landscape. The only reason he could see then was because of that moon. It illuminated his world. Just like him.
Fang. The only one who truly understood him. Who really and truly loved him, no string attached. It wasn't fair!
Iggy began to cry, staring at the moon that reminded him of his love. And with those memories, of flying over the Earth with his raven, of walking the streets of some unknown city lead by his belt loop, of the first kiss his lips ever tasted, came the last memory.
Iggy's silent tears turned to sobs that racked his whole body at the last memory, the last time he would remember his silent, raven-haired lover.
The Erasers surrounded them so quickly the entire flock was caught off guard. Everyone fought their hardest but, the more they fought, the more Erasers there seemed to be. Iggy had just elbowed an Eraser in the ribs, and as it gasped for breath he round-house kicked it in the head, when a blood-curdling scream stopped everyone mid-fight. It was Nudge. She was bent over a tall, black-clothed frame laying on the ground, motionless.
Fang. Before anyone told him what happened, Iggy knew. He felt it. It wasn't a tearing pain, but Iggy knew what it was, and with it came a sound. Like breaking glass. It felt like a hundred needles were bursting out of his body.
The sound was his heart breaking, and the pain was the shards of his broken heart pricking him.
The rest was a blur of Max yelling at the flock to get in the sky, for Iggy to help her lift Fang, and shouts of Erasers as the flock got away. When they landed in a forest clearing some miles away, Iggy confirmed it. He was gone, a perfect claw mark stretched from his cheek to his collarbone, slicing through his throat.
He remembered the exact color of Fang's blood because it was burned into his mind, with the feeling of the hideous claw marks indented into his fingers.
Iggy turned his attention back to the moon, the only thing he could see in his world of darkness. Just like him. Fang was always there for him, always. Until the very end. The pain in his heart never stopped, never dulled, it ruled his dreams and controlled his mind. Sometimes there was nothing more tempting to the blind boy than to join Fang. Stop the hurt and replace it with love.
Again sobs retched Iggy's body and shook his to his core, his very soul and being. This couldn't be, he couldn't be gone, Iggy repeated to himself. He couldn't take it, life without Fang wasn't life, it was hell.
"Fang!" Iggy cried into the night, at the moon. It had to be Fang, the moon shone on his just like Fang did.
"Fang, I can't so this, I can't live without you, I just . . . can't," he whispered the last word. Iggy leaned back against the window frame, leaning out the open window to feel the open air.
"I want to be with you, I want you back! Please come back," Another fit of sobs. "Please answer me, please," Iggy caught his breath and reduced back to silent tears. Through blurry eyes, he stared at the silver orb, waiting for Fang to speak to him.
"I love you, Fang," Iggy laid his head on the window again and waited for his words to reach Fang, then Fang's words to come back.
As sleep danced to Iggy's eyes and the moon barely touched the treetops, a soft fall wind blew over Iggy and into his room, carrying a message.
I love you too, Iggy.
