Hello everyone! After my long absence, here's a short little scene I found hidden in a cyber corner of my computer. Not sure from where this idea popped into my head… don't really know what to make of it, but here it is. I know it's short, but better than nothing I hope :)
Disclaimer: I do not own CSI: NY or any of the characters associated with the show. I only claim my original character(s).

Shark Tooth
There was a knock on Mac's office door and a little figure slipped inside through the tiny opening. The door was heavy and the little boy knew it. He also knew exactly how far he had to push it open in order to quickly step through and avoid being squished.
"DAD! Look what Sid gave me!" he exclaimed happily, running around Mac's desk with a grin plastered on his face.
The boy displayed the item in front of his father. "It's a real shark tooth!" he told Mac, who leaned closer to examine the item. As far as his knowledge spanned, it really was real.
"Isn't it cool?" the boy continued with a wide smile.
"Yeah, Thomas," Mac retorted, mirroring his joy. "What are you gonna do with it?" he queried and picked his son up.
"I don't know yet…" Thomas mumbled, studying the tooth with a frown. "Maybe mom has an idea."
"She probably does."
"Mom always knows what to do dad," Thomas said, rolling his eyes just like his mother did. "Can we go home after she's done kicking the bad guy's bum?"
Mac chuckled at his boy's choice of words, stood up and put Thomas back down on his chair, "Yeah, we'll go home soon, but first I have to go see Aunt Stella." Thomas' lifted his gaze hopefully. "Sorry, kiddo."
"Grown-up work stuff again, huh?" he muttered disappointedly, his eyes inspecting the floor. "I want to help, but everyone says I'm not old enough… Why can't the bandit you're chasing take a break with his friends… Then we could get Aunt Stella and Sid and everyone else and play games. Like the memory game… Or go to the park!"
Mac crouched down and waited for the six-year-old to look at him. "Hey… I know that you've been a little bored today, but remember what I promised this morning?" The boy nodded. "We'll play catch tonight, okay? Do you remember the other thing? 'There are a lot of bad guys out there, but one bad buy down–"
"–is a bad guy down'. I remember dad," Thomas said, the sadness fading away. "Dad, go see Aunt Stella quickly, so that we can go!"
--
"Do you approve?" Lindsay asked Thomas. The shark tooth was now attached to a string and tied around Thomas' neck.
"It's super neat, mom!" The boy grinned. "I can't wait to show it my friends! Bobby has one too!" Thomas explained, throwing his hands in the air.
Lindsay laughed at his enthusiasm, "That's great, and you can do that after dinner… Now go get your things and let's get ready."
The boy nodded and sprung to the other side of the room. He put the toys he had with him in his backpack and closed the zipper.
"Ready to go?" Mac asked as he appeared in the door way.
Lindsay gave Mac a smile and walked up to him with Thomas, who was pulling on the backpack.
"Dad, look!" he said, gesturing at his new accessory. "Mom had an idea," he smiled, almost falling over under the weight of his bag.
Mac steadied Thomas and continued to support him just in case.
"It looks great, buddy," he concurred.
"Dad, I'm a big boy already. I can carry my own stuff," Thomas informed him with eloquence only a child can have.
"That you are little man," Mac told him and shared a smile with Lindsay.

If I get any other moments in my head, there'll be one or more chapters, but no promises. And as always, leave a note if you feel like it (whether you loved it or thought it was utterly stupid) and thanks for reading!
