It had to have been that moment.
The moment he put his phone up to his ear. "Hello?"
And that was the moment he could trust no one. How alone he was in the world.
Fear. Paranoia. It's starting to build up.
Even if he is my enemy, he's still...
The Dollars. Mikado. Anri. The Yellow Scarves.
And him.
And just...him. No longer anyone in this war. Not anymore. "You're fired from your position as General! Ha!"
Shifting through names and numbers with a shaky hand, trying to gather as much shelter as possible from the pouring rain. All those contacts. No one answered.
He's not...He is...
"Who knew the leader of the Dollars was so close to you?"
What was there to lose now? He had lost everything. So, what difference would it make now? He threw his phone to the ground, fear shifting into adrenaline. He ran. He ran. He ran.
Even if he is my enemy...Even if he was my enemy...He's still my best friend.
So what if he lost everything? If he was going to die, he wasn't going to die running away. No, enough of that. He would face the past and fight.
And, if it ever came to it, kill. He would kill the past.
Or be killed by it.
