Beth had watched the young girl when she first arrived with the rest of the thirty or more people that they brought from Woodbury. According to Karen her name was Rebecca Benson, Rebecca was ten years old and had sandy blonde hair, brown eyes and was wearing a pair of blue jeans, a pink t-shirt and purple hooded jacket. Beth had noticed that Rebecca was very shy and didn't speak.
Karen told her that Rebeccas father had sacrificed himself so her mother and her could get away from walkers who had attacked their car, the car had broken down and her father had gotten out to see what the problem was and that's about five walkers attacked, he yelled at his wife to drive away, the two ended up at Woodbury a few days later and the Governor had asked them to stay and this was nearly a year ago.
"Hello Mrs Benson, Hi Rebecca." Beth smiled at the two of them, they were in the large mess hall that was set up for meals and just as a place to sit.
'Hello" Mrs Benson smiled back at her.
"Can I call you Becky?" Beth asked the young girl who was busy coloring on a piece of paper, Glenn, Maggie and Michonne had found an art supply store on one of their runs and grabbed as much as they could carry back.
Rebecca looked up at Beth and shook her head yes. Mrs Benson invited Beth to sit and she noticed the girls drawings were dark and sad which wasn't surprise, according to her mother Becky saw the walkers tear her father to shreds as they drove off, the next day Becky stopped speaking, Beth wiped a tear from her eye, she was all to familiar with damage walkers cause.
"What is it sweetie" Mrs Benson asked her daughter, Becky had touched her mothers hand and Becky used one of her signs. "Your thirsty" Mrs Benson asked her, Becky took her hand as if she had cup in it and raised it to her lips. Becky shook her head yes.
"Can you teach me those signs" Beth asked Mrs Benson.
"Sure I can do that" Mrs Benson smiled "Why don't go ask Carol for some water?" Mrs Benson had seen Carol enter the kitchen, Carol had asked anyone if they knew how to cook and if they could help with meals, she had three or four volunteers.
"Hey Becky what can do for you?" Carol smiled at the young girl, Becky gave her sign for wanting something to drink.
"Gotta name kid" Daryl asked smiling, he was sitting on the counter eating some crackers and helping Carol, it had only been a week and he was still learning peoples names. Becky looked at him and then looked at Carol who handed her a glass of water."Cat got ya tongue." Daryl asked her, Becky just stared at him blankly.
"Her name is Becky." Carol told him "I'll explain later" she whispered to him. Becky walked out of the kitchen and returned to the table where her mother and Beth sat.
"Do you mind if I color also?" Beth smiled at the girl. Becky nodded yes.
Beth spent the rest of the afternoon with Becky and Michelle. After praying over it that night and talking to her father about it, Beth plan was simple, help this young girl. She wanted Becky and the other kids to feel safe, she wanted to show her that no one will ever hurt her or her mother again. This was Beth's mission and she was going to succeed.
