Chapter 1: Another Kid To Take In

Logan walks around the Alkali Lake dam. He has been here for several months and the feral, mutant ex-soldier hasn't found any damn clues that will trigger his past memories. All that was found was what were left of an old crumbling dam covered in ice and snow. But he had to admit that it was a nice sight to see. The bitter cold wind began to pick up again, blowing cold snow and air at the mutant. Logan didn't notice thanks to his body temperature.

The feral mutant looks near the entrance of the old dam again as he walks in 2 inches of snow, spotting a lone wolf this time. The wolf stares at Logan as he stares back at it curious, anticipating some type of angry reaction. But instead the wolf simply walks towards the metal doors and looks back at Logan before going on the other side of the dam. Logan was slightly puzzled, wondering if the wolf was telling him to follow. He looks at the ice cover structure before slowly going in the same direction as the wolf before him. He noticed words that was inscribed that read 'Alkali Lake-Industrial Complex'.

When he got onto the other side, there was nothing left on the surface besides huge pieces of building concrete or what remains of a building that was covered snow. trees and in a far distance another side of the dam.

He signs deeply looking down, extremely disappointed. The professor have sent him on a empty trail.

"There ain't nothing here." Logan mutters as he grabs a cigar from his pocket and begins to chew on the end slightly.

As he pulls a lighter out, his heighten hearing picks up someone crying along with the scent of blood.

Growling softly, Logan throws out his razor claws and runs deep into the ice and snowy forest. A familiar scent. A mutant. Female.

Logan stops only a few feet away when he spots the young woman with her body against the tree wearing nothing but a black tang top and black underwear. She sat on a log looking down at her arm that was a few dry trails of blood running down, her dark brown hair covers her face.

"I don't understand.." she whispers to herself.

"You alright?" He asks, unsure if he should go near her or stay where he is. He sniffed the air around him for any other signs of life besides him and the girl. Instead he only could smell her scent which was almost like his.

"I don't understand."

The girl continues to cry. He took a couple steps closer and saw that her hands and feet were very bloody.

"Kid, are you alright?" He asks again.

This time, the girl slowly lifts her head up from her knees. Her eyes were bloodshot and puffy and widen when she saw Logan with his claws out. Logan looks down at his claws and pulls them back into his knuckles, grunting softly at the pain. She's probably freaked out bout 'those.'

The girl stands up, giving Logan a glare of death, seeing him as the threat.

"I'm not going to hurt you, kid." Logan plead, moving slowly towards her.

"Y-You." she said in a low voice.

"Huh?"

The girl takes a deep breath as she balls up her hands into fist and then slowly, two blades emerges from her fist and one on both feet.

Logan only stood taken completely by surprise at what he was seeing. He felt a mixture of unparalleled rage and sympathy. This poor girl went the same horrific process that he endured. She had to be no more between the ages of fourteen or sixteen years old.

"Jesus Christ..." he mumbles.

There was a brief silence between the two mutants. The girl finally spoke. "You're just like me."

"Do you know how you-"

"I don't remember." The girl said. "I can't remember anything."

Logan was speechless. "You got a name kid?"

"Laura."

'Laura. Logan.' Logan thought. 'At least she know her own name.'

Slowly Laura's claws retracts back into her fist and feet, hissing softly at the pain. She never took her eyes off Logan. She cocks her head to the side curiously.

"What's your name?" she asks.

"Er, Logan." he replies.

Logan bites on his lower lip. I should take her back to the Professor…. Logan though. But I said I won't go back to the mansion until I had some answers. Looking at Laura, Logan decided that she was more important now. His inner instincts was telling him to watch over her, protect her. It made sense in a way since she was like him.

'This is Rogue all over again.' He grunted.

"I know a place where they can help people like us." Logan said, offering his hand. "You can trust me, kid."

Laura only stood there, battling inside her mind whether or not she should go with him.

"Come on, kid." Logan growls. "I ain't got all damn day!."

Laura flinches at the sudden volume in his voice. Logan signs.

"I'm sorry." Logan said, reaching out his hand. "I'm not really the one with patience..."

She moves towards him. Logan could sense that he was making her tense up. He places a hand on her shoulder.

"Just relax." Logan assures.

"A-Alright."

Laura took Logan's hand, starting a strangle but a father/daughter type bond between the two mutants.
