"So…" she started awkwardly.

Carth glanced at her, only to look away as her eyes met his own. Alone in the elevator, the silence had become deafening.

"Hmm?" He responded, just as awkwardly.

"Oh, um, nothing. I just, uh, I like your jacket…" She trailed off. The smuggler didn't actually like his jacket, quite the opposite actually.

Confused, he glanced down at the orange jacket he wore. "Oh. Uh, thanks."

She nodded, looking up at the ceiling as she did so.

Carth cleared his throat. "Where'd you learn how to fight?"

Saiph whipped her head back down at the sudden question to look at him. "What? What do you mean?" She narrowed her eyes at him.

"Nothing. You don't fight like any smuggler I've seen. You just fight…weird."

He immediately regretted saying it.

"Weird? I fight weird?! You fight weird!" She retorted hotly, pointing at him.

"Me? I don't—"

"Yeah, you do." She held invisible blasters, widening her stance in an exaggerated manner and slouching, her elbows pointed outwards. "You hold your blasters like this."

Carth opened his mouth to argue but was cut off, once again.

"And every time, without fail, right before you shoot, your eyes get all squinty like this." She squinted, still in her mock stance of him.

He couldn't believe her. He was a respected Commander to literally everyone else but this snarky smuggler who couldn't care less about what that meant. If only he had been trapped on this awful planet with someone who actually understood the meaning of the term rank, he thought.

Scoffing, he muttered. "At least I don't look I don't look like an angry kath hound when I fight."

"What did you just say?"

The elevator bell dinged, signifying that they had finally, finally, made it to the Lower City.

Biting back laughter, Carth made sure to enunciate his words, "I said, at least I don't look like an angry kath hound when I fight. Is that loud enough for you, gorgeous?"

Rolling her eyes, she shoved past him out into the corridor. She pulled out her vibros, ready for anything that they could (and would) come across.

Under her breath, she promised, "I'll show you an angry kath hound."

Carth grinned. "Oh, I'm counting on it."

The sound of blasters filled the hallway, and they took off running.
