Yeah, there's a reason why I've never gotten a detention.

"No, really?" I said sarcastically. "I thought it was because they liked me best."

Sirius Black just wouldn't shut up, and I knew that it was only because he wanted something from me.

"Come on, Frank! You can convince her to help us!" he protested.

"No way," I said, "Alice already told you- she doesn't want to take part in any of your childish pranks."

"Hey," he retorted, "I am a child for the next twenty-three days! I'm only sixteen!"

"Children don't ride flying motorcycles at age fourteen without a license."

"Well, I couldn't very well just go to the muggles and ask for one! And that's not the point!"

"Sirius, not only is your stupid idea against a dozen school rules, it is also considered illegal in the muggle world."

"Define illegal," Sirius replied, somewhat sheepishly.

"Anything that involves setting a herd of flamingos loose in a school, for one!"

"Isn't it a great idea? And Alice was bragging about how she knew that spell!"

"Why don't you just get Remus to do it? He's smart enough, isn't he?" I asked impatiently.

"Alice didn't return the library book with the spell yet! You could at least ask her for that!"

"101 Spells About Manipulating Flamingoes?" asked a voice from far off in the Gryffindor common room.

"Yes!" exclaimed an exasperated Sirius.

"It's right here," Alice replied, handing him the book. "What's wrong, Frank?" she added, seeing my expression.

"Er...nothing?" I offered.

"Something's up," she said suspiciously; Sirius was running out of the room to plan his insane prank.

Excuse, excuse, have to think of an excuse, I thought hurridly.

"Want to go to Hogsmeade with me on Saturday?" I blurted out.

Alice raised her eyebrows, she obviously had called my subject change.

"Sure."
