Nightmare

It had been months now, since that fateful night when it had come to this. Since then, it had repeated itself almost every night.

It was terrible. Just the small pained grunts send chills down his spine as he lay there in the darkness, trying to ignore the horrors he knew were unfolding before him.

He knew how it went, because he had seen it, almost up close and personal. It had caught him completely off guard then, and since then, he had made it a habit to close his eyes when it happened, and let them stay closed until the whole ordeal was over, ignoring all noise coming from that direction, no matter what.

He cringed as another scream tore the night, followed by a pained grunt and a low heavy panting.

No longer capable of controlling his curiosity, he slowly opened his eyes, peeking out from under his lashes, as if afraid the white in them could be seen in the black night. He regretted it the moment his eyes had gotten used to the darkness though, and he hurriedly closed his eyes again, inwardly scolding himself for looking when he very well knew what he would see. He winced inwardly. That had to hurt!

To his own great horror he found himself strangely turned on by that small peek, and now it seemed, he was no longer able to tune out the sounds, even if he covered his ears. He closed his eyes harder, and started chanting to himself; it would all be over soon, it would all be over soon, it would all be over soon!

Barely had he thought that last bit to the end, when what was sure to be the final screams sounded. He clenched his first hard enough to draw blood, and then the silence washed over him, and he made an involuntary sigh.

He waited a few more minutes to open his eyes, and nearly yelped out in terror as his eyes locked with a pair of large blue and haunted ones.

"Sanji?" He breathed, but the other just made a motion that told him to be quiet or die. Managing a small grin and a sweatdrop at that, he finally dared to make noise enough to turn around and snuggle into a better position.

Well, at least this night of horror had given him some insight... No one slept when Zoro and Luffy shared a hammock.

And with that as his final thought, he closed his eyes, falling asleep to the sound of snoring, grunting, and Luffy making happy-noises.
