Smokekit had suffered rejection time after time again, considering her birth was an unlucky one. She had been born in the middle of a storm, and without not one, but two paws. Her left ear was missing and her face was squished. Her tail was nothing more than a short stub.
Cats said that the tiny gray kit should have been killed. She should't have been allowed to survive. She was an abomination. A freak of nature. Golden heart, the medicine cat of Rose clan, said it would be wrong to kill a kit. It was only because of him that she got to live to this day.
Thistlestar believed that the kit would't be able to walk, only having her left front paw and right backpaw. And so did most cats in the clan. But she proved them all wrong. Smokekit had managedtonot only stand, but was faster, stronger, and smarter than all the kits her age.
And still they hate her. And still she has beenrejected. Time after time after time again. Nobody wants her but Goldenheart. The only cat that defends her.
The only cat that loves her.
The only cat that she loves back.
But still,despite all his efforts, Smokekit was killed in the end.
It was a brutal death. The whole clan was in one it. And it started with the other kits.
Fawnkit, Smokekits fawn colored sister, had attacked her first. She pulled at her only ear and tore most of it off. Next was her mother, Briardawn. The birch colored she cat had picked her up by her scuff, shook the gray kit like a rag doll, and threw her against the wall.
The abuse continued, cat after cat, thirty two in all. Claws raked her pelt, jaws took out chunks. Smokekit was bleeding and weak by the end of the elders.
But there was still Thistlestar.
"You should have never been born." The golden tom hissed into Smokekit's ear. "We is all a favor by killing you."
Smokekit looked towardsGolden heart, her eyes wide and pleading. And the last thing she saw before Thistlestar lunged forward and killed her was Golden heart's emotionless face.
he didn't care. He never cared. It was all just a big lie. A very big lie...
