In a Tube
By Netbug009

...Why?

He floated in the liquid, his power almost drained. Consciousness was going to fail him soon, and he wasn't sure that was all that would.

But that wasn't the worst of it. The worst was that he may not be the only one to go through this.

Ikki... don't come here... it's too dangerous...

Some part of what he was thinking must have made it out of his mouth, because he got a reply. "Medabee, you have to tell us where you are!"

No... don't... please...

No. He couldn't come here. None of them could, but especially not him. If he came here, there were a million more things that could go wrong. He wished he sounded stronger. He could lie. He could pretend he was fine and kicking butt as usual. But, would Ikki really believe that? Or did he know the medabot too well?

Then he just floated there for what seemed liked forever. Then he heard more talking from the room around him. There was an intruder who had almost made it to the room he was in, and the creeps outside his tube wanted to make sure they were ready to take him out. He knew immediately who he was.

He wanted to yell and scream into Ikki's meda watch about how much of an idiot he was being. Didn't he tell the kid to turn back? What was the matter with him?

Did he really care about him that much? After all the junk he had said from the beginning? After how many times he had hurt him? After all the mess ups and the anger and the hate, did his owner really care about him enough to put himself in this much danger for him?

Could Ikki feel that Medabee was not just his medabot... but rather his friend?

...Ikki...

His mouth went numb; the first of his parts to fail him as he began to go into a critical state. No more words were going to be spoken by the medabot at the moment. But he thought that maybe, just maybe, a part of Ikki could hear him still.

...Thank you.

Why was he thankful though? Shouldn't he have been angry? He had told Ikki not to come, and yet Ikki wasn't listening! That jerk! He had just made the entire situation worse for himself!

And yet, that exact action left Medabee incredibly moved.

Black out. His optic parts had ceased function. He felt other pieces begin to follow suit, including his medal.

Am... Am I dieing?

He could still hear, but everything seemed so far away, the computers, the people, and there was a struggle, but he was too focused on his own status to care anymore. He didn't even really focus when the sound moved closer. It was the sound of glass cracking, and water moving around him. He was so tired.

No...

The cracking turned to shattering.

I can't go yet...

The water around him was rushing.

Not like this...

And a voice. Suddenly his leave seemed to slow down at that. Suddenly he was hanging on, but he was still stuck.

Somebody, help me...

The voice continued. It was different than the others. It wasn't evil. It was sad.

Please, I have to keep going...

Suddenly, when he was about to slip, the voice cut through the strange, distant feeling.

I still have to make everything up to him...

"Wake up you stubborn piece of junk!"

And his prayer was answered.
